HARLEQUINS CAPTAIN STEPHAN LEWIES AND FELLOW SOUTH AFRICAN
INTERNATIONAL WILCO LOUW RETURN TO FITNESS AS QUINS TRAVEL TO
SARACENS THIS SUNDAY
Both named amongst this week's Impact Players, Lewies and Louw
return to fitness this weekend following extended spells on the
sidelines.
Harlequins Coaching group has made seven changes to the matchday
23 in total, with three tweaks to the starting lineup as
Harlequins Academy men Matas Jurevicuus and Oscar Bear step into
the starting line-up. Jurevicius starts at blindside flanker
after impressing from the bench against Sale Sharks in his
Premiership debut last weekend, while Beard is also promoted to
the starting line-up having taken to the field in the second
half last Sunday.
A final change to the starting team sees Argentinian
international Santiago Garcia Botta step back into the front row
this Sunday, with Jordan Els taking up the 17 jersey.
Further changes to the matchday squad see Viliami Taulani (20)
and Louis Lynagh (23) named amongst the Impact Players, with
Lynagh returning to Quins camp earlier this week following
involvement in England's Six Nations training camp.
Senior Coach Tabai Matson said: “Saracens are a great team and
are particularly hard to play against in a home game. One thing
I’ve learnt since arriving at Quins is that Saracens game weeks
are ones that raise the bar a couple of notches higher. It’s our
biggest derby match and these types of games always add a little
extra bite to the occasion. It’s one of the great sporting
traditions, getting stuck into your noisy neighbours.
“We struggled with our error count against Sale last weekend and
have had some great discussions throughout the week about how we
can address that. You can’t afford to give away the number of
errors we did last week against teams like Sale and Saracens who
are physical sides with strong kicking games. It’s something
we’ve looked to address this week as we travel to North London.”

Looks like this will be a tough match, particularly with our
depleted front and back row resources (7 players out, all 1st
team candidates), but the return of Lewies, Louw and (surprised
to hear myself say it) Botta gives me confidence that things
will improve in weeks to come.
Wonder what's up with Collier - not listed as unavailable but
not picked when he's been in great form. I hope it's not another
one of those minor injuries that undermine his performances.

Bad day at the office ahead, me thinks. Putting up a decent
fight and coming away with a BP of some sort would be a good
result

The best we can probably put out, but still perplexed why we
haven't addressed the back row shortage with any short term
options. Last season we signed De Carpientier (sp?) for this
purpose but we seem to have instead opted to give anyone a go in
the back row in the hope it comes off.
Going purely by how we've played since Exeter, and on the line
up, 29-12

Going to be a tough day! Positive note to see Louw & Lewies
back.
Think the back row hasn’t been addressed with a medical joker
because some of the lads are probably close to returning (I hope
anyways)

Good to see Steph and Wilco back.
Collier can't be fully fit but hopefully the fact he's no listed
as unavailable means he'll be back next week. Could just be a
mistake though.
Not expecting anything from this game but we'll see. Hopefully
we can get some of the back row and other injured players back
for the Wasps game and bounce back then.
