I have been interested in seeing the crowds that have attended
England Womens international games in Doncaster. Basically, I
think that games are always sold out a long time in advance. So,
       there is clearly some interest.
Keepmoat is a 5,000 capacity stadium.
(I keep an interest as I hail from Donny.)

You have my deepest sympathies :) (He says, as if Rochdale is
       any better)

At least Rochdale is in England :-)

Ah - but has Sturgeon got 100,000 troops and 1,000 tanks on the
       border waiting to reclaim it...

There is a real difference in the geographical spread of the two
codes at the top two levels. Here's the Premiership teams on a
       map:
  HTML https://i.ibb.co/B428Q9j/image.png
While they're predominantly below a line from The Wash to
Chester, they're mainly spread out, meaning there's little
overlap in catchment areas. Contrast that to the Superleague
       map:
  HTML https://i.ibb.co/rmY38K3/image.png
Ignoring the two French clubs, all the top flight clubs are in a
corridor 10 miles wide, 110 miles long.
at the level below it's a similar picture. Here's the RFU
       Championship:
  HTML https://i.ibb.co/qF1rK8f/image.png
Yes, it's mainly South based still, but still spread out
geographically (apart from the three London clubs). In the RFL
       Championship, it's a different story:
  HTML https://i.ibb.co/F3f7XWn/image.png
It's a little more spread out than SL, but still heavily
concentrated along the M62, especially the 5 clubs in the "West
       Yorkshire" inset.
For all the big talk of RL fan forums about how it's "The
Greatest GameTM and it's going to conquer the
US/Canada/Serbia/etc", while they rely on a club game that's
based in a small area, with little meaningful regular
international competition (This year's World Cup not
withstanding), I can't see their game doing more than struggling
       along for years to come.

miles of each other when the north desperately needs a club.

As crazy as Liverpool and Manchester having four Premier League
clubs when the South West desperately needs one?
If the teams are good enough then their location should be
       irrelevant.
