Our wins earlier in the season were won as much with a dominant,
league-leading pack; take that away and there is no foundation.

It's all well and good saying it's a largely first choice
backline (bar two of our best players!!) But the backs don't
play on their own.
The handling was very poor which is a separate issue but if you
have a rubbish pack out there your backs will have problems even
if there's some quick ball.
And then there's the bench.
Sale were able to get world cup winners and finalists off the
bench to replace quality that started. Big difference.

The only positive is now we’ve seen the quality of our wider
squad players, it’s confirmed some aren’t worth keeping around.
There’s no point having a player in a squad if they can’t make a
difference or at least hold their own/look comfortable at this
level

6 current academy boys at the end in the pack! Issue is not the
missing internationals, but the next level down. 3rd choice
props today, 3rd choice 8, 6 and 7…4th choice second row….all
bar Symons and Walker the rest of the starting pack would not
make the normal 23. That is tough and clearly the backs were
trying to do too much.

More positives than that. Allan played well. Green was
magnificent in the air. Wallace showed up well. We showed plenty
of spine in the second half with a lot of young players on the
pitch.
Not pretending things are great but that could've gone a lot
worse.

Surely irrelevant of whether 1st, 2nd,3rd or 4th choice, you
expect the lads to catch the ball?
On subject of depth, with reduction in salary cap, is this
something to expect from all teams in future? Invest in stars
and win when they play, or have depth and win when other teams
are depleted?

Maybe Green was good in the air but very little decisive running
and his passing, right now, is awful.....

Noticed the training photos/videos. He was in those (no sign of
the others missing players though). It was said he is trying to
get up to fitness. Was out for a bit after having an Op.
