Harlequins head into the clash against Bath off the back of two
36-33 victories in the Champions Cup. The first of those came in
a nail-biter at Cardiff, with Marcus Smith slotting a late
penalty to seal the win.
The second 36-33 win came in our most recent encounter against
Castres at Stoop. Again, Quins left it late as Alex Dombrandt
scored in the 85th minute to secure another come-from-behind
win.

Before our back-to-back wins in the Champions Cup, we left it
late to beat Exeter in the Premiership; Andre Esterhuizen
scoring late in the 14-12 win. It’s been closely fought for the
Club recently with four of our five most recent victories coming
by a margin of three points or less.
Bath head into the clash off the back of their heaviest defeat
at The Rec as they leaked ten tries against Leinster, losing
64-7. In Bath’s penultimate Champions Cup pool stage match,
Stuart Hooper’s side scored three tries in a 39-21 loss to La
Rochelle at the Stade Marcel Deflandre.
Bath did pick up their first win of the season before the
European break, beating Worcester 22-19 in the Premiership.
Although Bath has won just once this season, they have claimed
losing bonus points in four of their Premiership fixtures.

"I think Bath are going to ruin a lot of people’s weekends this
year and we’ve got to go into it with a clear game plan to go to
The Rec and play well. We haven’t managed to play well for a
full 80 minutes for about a month, so we are focusing on an
80-minute performance this Friday."

Our centres both scored twice the last time we faced off against
Bath. Andre Esterhuizen scored twice in the opening 20 minutes
before Bath fought back to lead at half-time. Quins scored 19
unanswered points in the second half. Marcus Smith scored early
in the second half before Joe Marchant scored twice in the final
10 minutes.
In numbers
4 - Harlequins have conceded just four points per game on
average in the final 20 minutes of their games; only Leicester
Tigers have conceded fewer in the last quarter of matches in the
Premiership this season (3.3).
9.4 - Harlequins have conceded the fewest penalties per game
(9.4) of any team in the Premiership this season, while Bath has
conceded the most (14.3).
7 - Harlequins have made the most line breaks per game of any
team in the Premiership.
7 - Quins have won their last seven matches since the 16-14
defeat at Leicester Tigers in Round 10 of the Premiership Rugby.

Nathan Hughes v Viliami Tualani

Viliami shifts from the side of the scrum to the back following
a standout performance against Castres, where he scored his
first try for the Club. The Tongan powerhouse goes up against
England loose forward Nathan Hughes, who has joined Bath on loan
from Bristol Bears.
Tualani excelled in the physical battle against the abrasive
Castres’ pack last weekend and will look to carry that form to
The Rec on Friday. With Alex Dombrandt away with the England
squad over the next few weeks, Tualani has the chance to impress
the coaching staff with a string of performances in the starting
XV.
A sound performance against the experienced Nathan Hughes will
further Tualani’s claim for more starting minutes. Hughes has
struggled for form this season, but change can be as good as a
holiday, and an in-form Hughes is one of the Premiership’s
finest back rowers.
Tom Doughty v Jack Walker

Former team-mates face off in the front row on Friday evening as
Jack Walker captains Harlequins for the first time against his
former employers.
Walker leads the Club out for the first time on Friday evening
at his old stomping ground. Walker has quickly established
himself as a cornerstone of the Quins pack since arriving at the
start of the season. His lineout accuracy is immaculate,
operating at a 90% success rate while lending his way in a scrum
that has lost just four on their feed this Premiership season.
With Tom Dunn sidelined, Doughty has made the most of his
opportunities despite Bath’s poor run of results. The former
Bath University captain is a mobile hooker and represented the
England University Sevens team. Doughty has been accurate in the
set pieces and will need to continue that accuracy for Bath to
improve on their recent form.
Jacques du Toit v Jack Walker
Walker leads the Club out for the first time on Friday evening
at his old stomping ground. Walker has quickly established
himself as a cornerstone of the Quins pack since arriving at the

Walker goes up against South African hooker Jacques du Toit, who
joined Bath from the Cheetahs midway through last season.
Recently, du Toit has been one of Bath’s top performers, with
the 28-year-old putting in a powerful performance off the bench
against La Rochelle.
He showed an impressive turn of pace in the build-up to one of
Bath’s tries in the encounter while he was among the top
tacklers in the loss to Leinster last week. He has also been
accurate in the set pieces and a threat over the ball.
Cameron Redpath v Tommy Allan

Both Bath and Harlequins head into the encounter at the Rec
without the services of Orlando Bailey and Marcus Smith.
Both England squad members have been regular starters for their
clubs, but the talented pair of Cameron Redpath and Tommy Allan
take over the starting roles this week.
Redpath returned from a long-term injury lay-off against La
Rochelle a fortnight ago and got through over an hour of action
against Leinster last week. The 22-year-old is primarily an
inside centre but started in the fly-half position on his return
against La Rochelle. A well-rounded playmaker, Redpath is more
than capable of sparking the Bath backline into life.
Tommy Allan gets a second start in the 10 jersey following a
two-month injury lay-off due to injury. Last week, the Italian
cruised through 66 minutes against Castres, scoring nine points.
The 28-year-old enjoyed a rip-roaring start for Quins with
back-to-back man of the match performances and will be looking
to recapture that early season form. In his six appearances to
date, he has assisted two tries and scored 31 points with a goal
kicking accuracy of 83%.
Max Ojomoh v Andre Esterhuizen

Bath’s impressive 21-year-old centre Max Ojomoh returns to the
starting line-up and goes up against the Premiership’s form
inside centre, Andre Esterhuizen.
This season, the fleet-footed Ojomoh has beaten 23 defenders and
made nine clean breaks in his 11 Premiership appearances. He has
also scored twice for the West Country Club. The former England
Under-20 star has the skillset to cause the Harlequins defence a
few headaches.
Esterhuizen continued his form against Castres, finishing the
encounter as the joint top carrier (15). He enters Friday’s
fixture with four tries and three try assists in the
Premiership. He also averages three defenders beaten per game in
the competition and a clean break.
In the news this week
We are off to Montpellier for the Champions Cup Round of 16. The
Club is on the road for the first leg on the weekend of 8-10
April; returning to the Stoop for the reverse fixture the
weekend after.
Two more re-signings! This week Quins legend Danny Care
confirmed that he is extending a 16-year-career with the London
club.
Care is the 10th player who has penned a new deal with the
reigning Gallagher Premiership Champions recently, with Tyrone
Green signing a long-term extension with the Club earlier in the
week.
Harlequins’ duo Hayden Hyde and Will Trenholm won a bronze medal
with England Sevens in Spain last weekend. England beat
Australia 20-24 in the bronze medal final.

Really keen on Taulani as an option at 8 if he can get the
control at the back of the scrum right and show us that he can
play link man with the backs. He's got the perfect frame for it
if he can get the mental aspects right. I feel like we've only
seen a fraction of what he's capable of so far...
