He had a really poor evening, but he's clearly not shocking. Try
popping down your local level 9!
The only reason Castres can absolutely pin on failing to win
were the missed kicks and points. The reasons Castres didn't
qualify were their first 3 matches.

The last penalty - borderline whether he was supporting his
bodyweight but you'd be annoyed if it wasn't given for your
       team.
As for other decisions - usual story that I find them more
palatable after the game's finished and we've won

It was our turn to benefit after so many injustices in the past.
       Karma.

Yes and the reason Castres didn't win on Friday was Castres.

I think you may have overestimated the seriousness of the post.

Best quote has to be on the Bath board ‘Quins have been in a
full sexual relationship with luck all season’ just brilliant.

Lander was in the period when I wasn't really following rugby,
whereas Walsh overlapped the period where I started reffing.
Walsh was a good communicator but capable of absolutely shocking
lapses of judgement, especially where England were concerned.
The ones that stick in my mind are the end of the 2012 England v
Wales game, where a penalty advantage conceded from a 5m maul at
the death was deemed over when Strettle failed to score, and the
2013 sequel where he completely ignored Bomb binding on the hem
of Marler's sleeve at every scrum and refused to let Robshaw
talk to him to point it out. England lost that game badly, but
given that they were denied any primary possession by genuinely
appalling refereeing, it was hardly a surprise.
Still, even the best make mistakes. Barnes admitted at a meet
the ref evening that sending Skinner to the bin for a completely
legal pickup of the ball was down to his failure to spot that
the ball had come out, and Nige once denied England a game
changing try when he penalised Owen Farrell for holding on
rather than Stuart Hogg (IIRC) for joining the ruck from the
wrong side (after the law change in the off season).

Well I was and anybody around at the time will never forget
       Lander!
