Atrocious refereeing.

Good gritty win against a big old unit of a team. Like people
have said, we had a very mixed up squad & a few stuck up their
hands for selection but equally a fair amount showed why they
haven’t been picked. Wilson done well, 4th in the pecking order.
David looked sharp, I see him more of a winger than a FB.
Really am disappointed with Jones, was buzzing when we signed
him up and thought this team would bring the best out of him.
Feel like it’s been the total opposite, really frustrating
player to watch. Hopefully a run of games will help him out.
But hey, 19/20 points would have bitten your hand off if you
said we would be where we are today. Onwards & upwards. COYQ

Ii think the 19 points is all the more impressive as we had to
play for them all. Four tough games in the end of the day.

Another cracking night at the Stoop, albeit a very up and down
performance from the team.
Steele is so frustrating. Looks great coming on with 20mins to
go, but once again fluffs his lines when given the opportunity
to start. Just reaffirms the need to sign up DC for another year
Hopefully! Hopefully Gjaltema is given more game time this
season.

I think this "always go for the line out" approach should be
revisited. When Marcus came on we had an eminently kickable
penalty that would have left us one point adrift. Instead we
screwed up the line out and needed a try to win - which we got
by the fact the groundsmen drew a slightly thicker white line
where Dombrandt went over.

Agree on three of them, but Botta's been fine this season.

With only 24 teams in the tournament would be demoralising to
have a round of 32 next!

I must confess I thought we were poor tonight as a group. Fine
to give credit as it wasn’t our first team but whatever team we
put out shouldn’t be 0-13 after 8 mins.
Steele and Gjaltema are both dreadful (sounds harsh I know).
Even at the end, the distribution was so poor to first receivers
trying to take the ball at head/ankle height to get over the
line - complete basics for a SH.
Jones is a shambles (or at least has been for Quins), David’s
positional play as a 15 is an embarrassment and Wallace’s time
has been and gone.
Having said all that, we ended up 2nd out of 12 so certainly not
something to grumble about for too long but clear to see where
our issues will lie in the coming weeks

While it was at times entertaining, it certainly wasn’t great
for an awful lot of that match. Don’t think we really deserved
to win but I’ll take the 5 points and move on. At least we’ve
played our 4 games and haven’t had any Covid freebies. I don’t
want to get in to the ref too much but he made some stinking
calls for both sides.
Castres were quick, physical and played with plenty of attacking
intent. We didn’t defend with much of a plan at all it seems. To
be expected in a way with so many changes but the way we shipped
some of the tries was especially disappointing. Some of the
decision making was rather odd, Riley going in his own from a
line out on the 5m line and getting turned over was something
he’ll learn from I’m sure.
Front row stood up well, David showed promise in attack. Allan
looked to be getting back into the groove a bit. Steele was very
rusty. Not sure about his step one way and then go completely
the opposite direction. A few times it seemed to totally baffle
everyone around him rather than keep the oppo guessing. All in
all grateful for the 5 points and on to the next round. I do
hope the team don’t get complacent after the last couple. We’ll
come very unstuck if we defend like that too often.
