Eddie Jones has pushed his affinity with an out-of-form Owen
Farrell too far

Ireland are over-reliant on Johnny Sexton - England are going
down the same path with Owen Farrell

Ireland are over reliant but don't have as many options. What's
even more staggering with England is that there's 2 ready made
options in cracking form.
I do think sometimes Faz gets abuse because he's Farrell and
comes across as aloof and unlikeable. This was discussed on one
of the rugby podcasts recently, I can't remember which one. A
leader he may be but you can't ignore that he's nowhere near the
player he was a couple of years back at the moment and that he'd
be a handbrake on the England team. He got in the way against
Australia, he'll get in the way against Scotland if he plays.

One factor that hasn't been discussed is that Marcus and Faz
really get on. Apparently they spent a lot of the Lions tour
just talking rugby together. There are a lot worse start points
for a productive relationship on the pitch. I still think that
Farrell isn't the man England need for the future, but I am
prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt for a few more
games.

Yes to this and I think the team that he plays for makes him
unpopular too. It certainly does for me!

Farrell was a talented player, but the attritional style that
Sarries/England play means he often doesn't get to show a
broader skill set. Its reached the point where I think maybe
any flair or ambition has been coached out of him through sheer
repetition.
I'm okay with Farrell being considered at fly half for England.
Clearly a very different player to Smith but having contrasting
styles and optionality in a squad is no bad thing.
What I can't fathom is why you'd have Farrell at 12. Yes, he can
kick, but I can't recall the last time I saw any sort of running
game from him. He's not going to manipulate defences with clever
footwork or slight of hand, and he's no crash ball option
either. It just seems to be muddled thinking from EJ in my book.
I'd like to see an 8, 9, 10, 12 axis of Dommers, Randall, Smith
and Atkinson. Won't happen though

Looks like Farrell may have injured himself in training this
week and so not playing this weekend .
I wonder if they will call up George ford

While it is never nice to hear that a player has injured
himself, this could be an excellent opportunity.
Slade and Marchant worked so well against SA in the second half.
I would want to see Youngs at 9, Smith 10, 11. Hassle Collins
12. Slade,. 13 Marchant. 14 Nowell. 15. Stewart
If we play Marchant at Slade we need hard working, big winners
to truck it up and challenge defenses.

I was totally on board until "Youngs at 9".
