The gravitational attraction offered by the three of them would
deviate the ball directly towards them: he wouldn't need to
       jump...

It was but after that Leicester game, I was very glad Joe never
had to switch sides for England.

If you think about it logically, when you play loose head your
body is favouring a different side than when you play tight
head. Yes you can train for this but Loose and tight head props
are individually specialist positions, and to play both at the
       highest level isn't easy.

Indeed. Which is why Adam Jones secured instant club legend
status when he did it at no notice and schooled two
international tightheads in how to do it right.

Didn’t a prop say that swapping sides was like trying to write
with your wrong hand. Sounds like a good analogy from what I’ve
       been told.

I think it depends on a couple of factors. One is whether you
played one side for your whole career or have swapped at some
point in the past. A lot of players from the amateur and early
pro era had a preferred side but were sufficiently experienced
on both sides that they could do a job, but modern players have
       generally specialised.
Fin Baxter swapped from TH to LH last season, didn't he, and
seems to have adapted well. Lambo found it transformational - I
once asked him at an event why he swapped and he laughed and
said it was because he realised he wasn't a very good tighthead
and wished he had done it years earlier. I seem to remember both
Marler and Sinckler putting in games on both sides when they
were at U20 level, but pretty rapidly specialised.
And then there's the Funbus himself, who in his autobiography
says that in the amateur era it would either be the first prop
to get to the scrum, or the more senior prop, calling their
favourite side and the other one would have to lump it. Except
for the time that Sir Jase himself insisted on playing one side
for an entire game because a bulging disc in his neck meant he
could only lift one arm. It was the last test of the season, he
then went and had surgery and was back playing without missing a
       single test.

Or it's a chance for some youngsters to shine. We're not short
of wingers, we've got plenty of potential talent at 13 who've
been waiting their turn behind Marchant and Northmore, and we've
got our best backup 10s in ages.

I vaguely remember Adam Jones swapping from tight head to loose
head, and (I think) Conor complementing him when we won.
