Quins v Castres next week

So I’m guessing that Castres have little to play for but pride
next week and may therefore play an under-strength side? We
need a 5 pointer to have a chance of a home QF so what do we go
for? Rest a few or go for broke? For me it’s a chance to start
with Green, Care and maybe Dombrandt on the bench. What do you
think?

I'd go with a strong starting fifteen. Ideally get the job done
early and then ring the changes in the second half.
Financially, a home QF would also be a boon for the club, so
that might also influenced selection.

Castres will be in go big or go home territory.
They only have three points, but are only 5 points behind
Connacht in fifth.
A win could be enough for them to progress - even if only to
face Racing.
I would go for it.

If, as the club and many of the players have said, Europe is the
next big challenge that they wish to be a part of, then they
have to take it seriously and put the strongest side out.
Castres may have lost at home to Munster, but they will still
provide a threat if they choose their full side.
My worry would be (more) injuries playing against a side that is
either desperate for a win or that doesn't care...

I see no benefit in not going for it. Maybe rest someone like
Green who has played a heck of a lot of rugby, I think everyone
else has been rotated at some point. But let’s just go for it.

We MUST treat this as a final, as we must for every remaining
game we play in this comp. I don't want guys like ester rested
again, especially as we are missing 2 top back row players. I
don't want calamity-prone players like Jones on the bench.

Well were gaurenteed top 4 in our pool, it's a double legged
round of 16 so but premature to be thinking of 1/4 finals just
yet.
Get through the castres game without injury and at least 1 point
and I'm a happy supporter.
Well done lads, into the knock out rounds.

Can someone please explain how the next few rounds work. Does 1
in pool A play 8 in pool B, and so on? Then how do quarter final
seedings work? Did look on the tournament website but couldn't
easily find the info

Round of 16
2.6 The eight highest-ranked clubs in Pool A and the eight
highest-ranked clubs in Pool B will qualify for the Round of 16
matches which will be played over two legs on a home and away
basis as follows:
R16 1: Number 1-ranked club in Pool A v Number 8-ranked club in
Pool B
R16 2: Number 2-ranked club in Pool A v Number 7-ranked club in
Pool B
R16 3: Number 3-ranked club in Pool A v Number 6-ranked club in
Pool B
R16 4: Number 4-ranked club in Pool A v Number 5-ranked club in
Pool B
R16 5: Number 4-ranked club in Pool B v Number 5-ranked club in
Pool A
R16 6: Number 3-ranked club in Pool B v Number 6-ranked club in
Pool A
R16 7: Number 2-ranked club in Pool B v Number 7-ranked club in
Pool A
R16 8: Number 1-ranked club in Pool B v Number 8-ranked club in
Pool A
NB The clubs ranked numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 from Pool A and Pool B
will play the second leg of their Round of 16 matches at home.
The three clubs ranked 9 to 11 in each of the pools will qualify
for the Round of 16 of the EPCR Challenge Cup.
Quarter-finals
2.7 The quarter-finals will be played over one match and the
highest-ranked club from the pool stage will have home venue
advantage as follows:
QF 1: Winner R16 1 v Winner R16 5
QF 2: Winner R16 7 v Winner R16 3
QF 3: Winner R16 2 v Winner R16 6
QF 4: Winner R16 8 v Winner R16 4
Semi-finals
2.8 The semi-finals, played over one match, will be staged at
venues designated by EPCR and the highest-ranked clubs from the
pool stage will have home country advantage as follows:
SF 1: Winner QF 1 v Winner QF 2
SF 2: Winner QF 3 v Winner QF 4
Final
2.9 The 2022 final will be played in Marseille on Saturday 28
May (17.45).
