But did your career come to an end in your early 30s because you
were unable to do it anymore?

No. Although in fact for various reasons started at 32 and ended
       on retirement!

Rugby is a short career, but lets be honest, most rugby players
who get to the first team, or knocking on the door, and are home
grown are hardly likely to have an arduous life post rugby
really regardless how successful they are.
Hugh Tizard went to a school which costs £33k a year. I have a
feeling financially he is sound, as are probably many in the
academy who are private schooled, thus probably in a privileged
position, and therefore able to probably have a good education
regardless. And obviously, as a family probably not short of a
       few bob.
He's gone for more money and thats it. With the chances he was
getting here, and possibly with Symons out the door, he probably
would be almost always be in the match day squad come next
season, so really wouldn't harm international ambitions anymore
than any other club. But such is sport. With that said, others
deserve their chance ahead of him. Go team Lamb

He actually moved to Cranleigh in Sixth form so may have been on
a scholarship before that Guildford College which is state
       school.

Let's face it if you're good enough at 15/16 and not at a rugby
playing school and identified as potentially good enough you'll
get a scholarship to a seriously good school that plays rugby.

As an aside, I do think that first senior contract (max 3 yrs
since that seems to be the standard max) should be exempt from
salary cap if graduating from an academy , so rewarding the
effort a club puts in. If another club gets them then there is
       no exemption.
