Bad news indeed. Without Jack or Will Evans or (for 6 Nations)
Dombrandt, that leaves by my reckoning Lawday, J Chisholm,
Taulani, Wallace, White as official squad backrows plus maybe
Lamb and (if/when fit) Lewies and Scotland-Williamson as (out of
position) cover. Is there anyone I've missed. Maybe also a
chance for Academy players - Trenholm looked useful pre season.
Will this be enough?

Be interesting to see how the coaches tackle this. Will they
give Wallace, as our only remaining genuine openside, a run of
games, or will they switch Lawday to 7.

Wow gutted for Jack. Don’t think we have another player with his
skill set. Wonder if we’ll use Lawday at 7 now or maybe look to
Wallace or one of the academy lads to step up. Trenholm is
probably the most likely prospect to step up. I recently watched
his performances in the Dubai 7s and he reminds me very much of
Clifford with his size and speed.

So gutted for Jack. He has been outstanding since getting his
chance in the first team, after poor Will broke his leg. We all
wish Jack a speedy and full recovery.
We all know accidents happen and there was no out and out intent
to hurt our players but Exeter went too far and were allowed to
do so. Seeing Jack on the floor, I assumed the red card was to
do with him. Anyway, bitterness is not useful now. Best wishes
to Jack.

From 40:30 on the match clock, he makes about 4 tackles, and at
every ruck Exeter fly off their feet. Gray comes in completely
the wrong side & Kirsten just leaps on top of the ruck and
presumably twists Jack's neck the wrong way at 41:06.

The most ridiculous thing is the ref gives the knock-on against
Marchant.

Oh that's tough. At least the surgery was successful and fingers
crossed he will recover in time for a good pre-season. It looked
like a concussion on the field - didn't realise it was that bad.
I suspect we'll run with Chis / Lawday / Dombrandt / Taulani in
the short term. Lawday has done very well at 7 considering it's
not his primary position. For the 6N, I imagine Chis will shift
to 8 and Wallace may come back in to contention.

Agree, Trenholm looks the next academy back row to be promoted.
I can see Lamb being played at blindside. We need another line
out jumper if we have to continue with Tizard and Syomons
together. Keningham will defo be missed.
Let's hope WEV comes back soon.
