Having been to a few games in France, esp. Clermont and Paris,
the home fans kick up a hell of a noise for their own kickers,
bands playing, flags waving etc. Doesn’t seem to affect the
       kicker much.

I remember NEv saying he initially found it strange when he came
over that crowds would hush for a kicker. In NZ (at least at
club level) the crowds make noise during the kicks.

Even if association/regression studies on existing data are
tricky, it can't be too difficult to do some experiments. Noise
is routinely studied as a distraction from
       concentration/attention.
If you all stump up a few £grand each I'm sure I could knock a
study together. Plus, that will enable you to contribute to
something useful instead of wasting your savings on holidays and
beer, which you know deep down will not bring happiness.
