Harlequins’ coaching group has made two changes to the starting
XV that ran out a close 17-20 victory against Gloucester at
Kingsholm Stadium last weekend.
England and British and Lions prop Joe Marler returns to the
side after failing a late fitness test ahead of last weekend's
fixture, with Argentinian international Santiago Garcia Botta
named in the 17 jersey this Saturday. The second change sees
wing Cadan Murley returns to the side after being rested last
week, with Louis Lynagh selected amongst the Impact Players for
this Saturday’s clash with Exeter.
Harlequins welcomes back Scotland international scrum-half Scott
Steele to the matchday 23 this week after a spell on the
sidelines, taking up his place in the 21 jersey as he looks to
make his first appearance for the Club since November. The final
change to the matchday 23 sees backrow James Chisholm return
from injury to wear the 20 jersey amongst the Impact Players.
England international Collier will join an exclusive group of
Club legends as he becomes a double centurion as he takes to the
field against Exeter on Saturday.
Making his debut eleven years ago as Harlequins played in an
eye-catching fixture in Abu Dhabi against Wasps, Collier joins
the likes of propping Club legends Tani Fuga, Joe Marler, Ceri
Jones and Mark Lambert as he passes the 200 mark.
Previewing this weekend’s replay of the 2020/21 Premiership
final, Skills and Kicking Coach Charlie Mulchrone said: “It’s a
game I’m sure everyone is looking forward to, even as a neutral,
given it’s a replay of the final. Hopefully, it will be as
exciting as it was last year, hopefully, a bit more comfortable
for us, we’ll see.
“Both teams, going off the stats, like to keep the ball in play
and like to play attacking rugby. It’s probably been limited
recently because of the weather. No matter how attacking you
want to be if it’s blowing a gale or it’s howling down your
tactics have to change slightly. I think it’s meant to be quite
gusty this weekend, but we’re two attacking teams and that’s how
we want to play. Hopefully, we get that, weather permitting.”

down, we just have to make sure we are the side that is going

on us to perform,” added Baxter. “Last week was pleasing and was
another step in the right direction for us. In a lot of ways it
was more about the performance than the result which I liked the

that we found a bit of our mojo and a bit of alignment. There
was an extra energy, an extra drive, which all came through in
the performance.

Harlequins side. We know going up there will be tough, but
that’s kind of what you expect every week in the Premiership.
There should be no easy games and you should expect to be
challenged.”

final – and they have continued it into this current campaign,
where they sit third in the table, six points ahead of the
Chiefs.

> “Harlequins deserved to win the final, I’ve no problem with
that,” continued Baxter. “The frustration I have is that we
probably put ourselves in a position where, those final weeks of
the season, we didn’t really accelerate into those games. Our
performance against Northampton (away) and Sale (home) were
funny, it was like we were trying to manage our way into the
semi-final.
> “We won those games, but not with what you’d call a real
authority in our game. The semi-final against Sale was better,
but then we almost drew breath again and never got our foot down
again. We never went for the Harlequins jugular and that’s kind
of what bothers me – and it’s probably what bothers the players
now.

> “I can take wins and losses all the time, but you tend to win
the games in which you deserve to win. We didn’t deserve to win
the final. It was not the loss as such which hurt, it was more
our performance on the day.”

> Baxter added: “Looking at Quins this season, they seem just as
good now as they were that day. They are clearly very
comfortable with how they are playing and they look like a side
who are enjoying their rugby. Personally, I like watching them
play, but I also realise the threat they bring, so it’s up to us
as a squad to make sure we bring more of the key elements to the
game this weekend than they do.

ourselves in a way that brings the best out of us. Our key focus
must be on what we want to get from the game and how we want to

Strong team, was worried that Symons may be out for a while
after coming off last week. Hoping Marler can really target
their tighthead in the scrum as he’s looked vulnerable in the
games I’ve seen this season.
