According to the BBC, we edged a victory. Odd way to describe
six tries to three.

Also, watching from one end really made me appreciate Lawday's
work at the ruck today, as well as his gutsy decision to attack
on the left in his own 22 and the skills to make it happen. Very
impressed with him.

A very important win that puts us right back into the playoff
mix rather than starting to drop off it. Lawday works and works,
Dombrandt was in the right place at the right time making the
right run over and over. On to Gloucester next week.

Umm …not really. Both the first and second tries required him to
read the game and pick the right lines. He does that better than
anyone.

100% agree. I’m fairly relaxed about our league position. We’re
not even half way through the season, but we’re more or less
where I expected us to be. Even if we don’t top the table at the
end of the season, no-one will want to play us in a knock-out
situation.
I also think it’s important to show we can win without Smith.
Hopefully Allan is back for the 6N period, but Edwards is
showing he can do a good job when required.
George Skivington has made an good impact at Gloucester and
they’re definitely a tougher proposition than they have been in
recent times. They’re becoming a more physical outfit and their
maul is very good so I’m expecting a tough game.

We were sitting in Atithi on York Street discussing the same
thing...

Yeah, but with ~ 10 minutes to go, it could still have gone
either way, if Saints had used their wingers and not cut inside,
as mentioned above, or squandered their ball. Final score wasn't
flattering, but it possibly doesn't tell the whole story.

Murley has turned into some player this season, another top
performance - seems like he’s got quicker, but he is just so
solid in everything he does. Might not be the most flashy winger
around but he rarely makes the wrong decision and is so
powerful. Also the best defensive winger in the league imo

Got ourselves in a hole at the beginning but that was a solid
performance from 20 mins onwards. I'd have given MOTM to Lawday,
not Andre (or Dombrandt). Guy is everywhere and is exactly what
we want as a 6. Smart player, not just a thumper who is great
with his hands in attack and rock solid in defence. He does so
much it allows us to play Wev or Reincarnated Robshaw at 7 to
raise hell over the ball. I'd have him in any quins side i've
watched in the past few years in a heartbeat.
The most impressive thing was how we marshalled that second
half. We went behind with 30 mins to play, got ahead thanks to
Lawday, Northmore and Lynagh and then even though the gap was
only four points, never looked like losing. Having three really
good THs and four very good locks puts us at a massive advantage
over the teams around us. Our pack allowed us to control the
game and it looked more comfortable than the scoreline
suggested, until right at the end where we pulled away. That we
can control a game like that against another top four side down
our top TH and with our third choice 10 as well as attack like
we do and put up 40 points bodes very well.
We have the same record as chiefs who are in 6th, but are six
points clear owing largely to try BPs, and not having been well
beaten by anyone. Don't think we can complain too much. Beat
Gloucester and Exeter in the next two and we are right among it.

I was convinced if we were in touching distance at half time
then we'd come away with it. Wasn't happy when it was 7-21, but
would have been happy to be within 7 at half time. I knew our
fitness and use of subs would give us an edge and they did, but
as noted above a near run thing.
