Is all this fuss worth it, you can't get relegated, so a
punishment can only be a fine, why not contrate on getting a
system that can't be abused.

I'm not sure that should it be as serious as the Sarries case
relegation isn't out of the question. They just decided that for
this season they wouldn't relegate the bottom-placed club as
would have happened normally at the end of the season. There's
nothing to stop them deciding to have next season as another
with 13 clubs, simply promoting the Championship winners &
relegating Tigers were they found to have been playing extremely
fast & loose with the rules. All it would do is delay by a year
the Premiership expanding to a 14 club competition.
I'm by no means saying that Tigers have done anything wrong at
this point. The investigation is only just underway.

Even if there is no relegation, if they were deducted enough
points to place them bottom of the Premiership it would mean no
trophy, with all the marketing opportunities that come with
being Champions and no European rugby which would also hit their
pockets.

Agreed, as I recall Mark Evans expressing concern around the
impact of no European rugby on the Club's finances at the time
of the incident that shall not be mentioned.

Yes but it is the Quarter final that is critical to bottom line.
If you get a home quarter final that all seems to go to the Club
and of course outside season tickets.

Yeah but no but... I got talking to one of the ticketing
managers about it, and he said the main value to the club is in
having the home games against top class European opposition
during the pool stages. That year we were the best side in a
very weak pool and he said that they would need a QF just to get
the income they'd normally get from stronger opposition.
(For the record, we got the QF - and a full house with it - and
lost to Munster)

Be ironic if Leicester got deducted points or position and
Saracens ended up top of the table at the end of the season!

I'd replace ironic with appalling.

I'd replace ironing with a Corby Trouser Press, in particular
one with a thermostatic temperature control.
