How far back does this go? If most of the players have moved on,
if the management have changed and if Leicester won nothing is
it right to punish the current team and management (assuming
they were not involved)? Hit them hard if it's current but if
not, it's difficult in my opinion. Saracens are serial offenders
and were caught in the act. Their punishment was inadequate, I'd
have stripped them of all their titles, given them the
relagation they got, fined them and set their salary cap at 75%
of all other premiership teams for the next five years. I'd also
have made them take their stars off (or let them wear them
struck through!) but what to do about Leicester if it is
historic and they gained no advantage anyway?

That’s not really the point is it. Why did we get all the
sanctions when we didn’t end up winning the game or benefiting.
Because it was against the rules/law. You can’t have cheating
and then let it slide if it doesn’t work.

Personally I would say throw the book at the money man cheaters
but have some consideration for Tigers undoubted standing as a
proper rugby club.

The SCM can look back 5 years, so some of the players currently
in the squad, particularly those who can expect to command a
higher salary, could well be implicated in the potential
wrongdoing.
As for Sanderson complaining that his time at Sarries is bought
up because of this, tough bitties*! We still have the Game That
Shall Not Be Mentioned dredged up regularly, and that was one
event more than a decade ago.

I do understand your point of view but in my opinion it was the
club that broke the rules and, if guilty, the club that must
pay.

are we as quins in any position to talk about cheating ? let's
just let
the authorities decide the punishment if guilty and count
ourselves lucky that we didnt get the same

Whilst I take the point about the players, now ,not necessarily
being the players involved in the image rights issue it is also
fair to point out that the new CEO at Leicester is an internal
appointment; the individual concerned has been at the club for
something like 18 plus years and was in charge of commercial
activities for most of those years (according to her Linkedin
profile and media interviews). So it is slightly disingenuous to
argue that the club is under new management.

We’re in danger of Raab territory here of not investigating
things that happened in the past here.
It is the club that is being investigated, not specific people.
Individuals represent their employer and the investigation will
determine whether it is the organisation or the individual that
is liable for anything naughty.
Sanderson is a ludicrous character.

Agree re Sanderson, beats me why BT love him so much that they
have the camera trained on him throughout Sale games (and
Salarycens before that), much more so than coaches of other
clubs.

Especially ironic given they only escaped relegation 2 season
ago because of Sarries.
