I think it might well be his last season TBH. I don’t think it’s
a case of wanting to leave as such, more a recognition of his
age. Father Time catches up with every sportsman eventually and
DC is expensive when you factor in the drop of the salary cap.
It’s no secret that he’s ramping up his media career so I really
wouldn’t be surprised to see him bow out at the end season.
Hopefully after a glorious victory in the final.

DC's time will come and sooner than we might want, but new blood
must be given the chance. I've been impressed with Gjaltema
(he's nippy with a good fast pass) so far and Steele's good; I
       haven't seen enough of Stafford.
I don't imagine we'd be able to prise JVP form Tigers or "Arry
Randall from Bristol and we have to look after the Cap limits,
so don't see a big purchase coming there. I would rather see one
of our up-and-coming lads fill the space - not another player
that's an International that we'll lose to often - and continue
develop the 8-9-10-12 axis (with options) that is one of our
three main strengths (the others being the pace on the wings/FB
       and the scrum.

So in summary Danny might be retiring at the end of the season
and he might not. Glad we have cleared that up!

I can see him staying for at least another year, to play and
guide as Gjaltema is given more time and, perhaps Steele too.
Gjaltema has been at the club for a while and I wonder if they
have been developing him for the long term.
Looking at the next 18 months, though: Danny is fit, influential
and really playing well. I think he will be 35 on Sunday but Age
Ain't Nothing but a Number! I can see him being a player coach
(like Wigglesworth) before taking the step into media, joining
Craig Doyle as rugby's Ant and Dec. But good!!!!

Wew need two outstanding scrum halves - as we did when DC and
Karl Dickson were together. Steele looks a good fit as a second
no 9 but we need someone to push him for the spot - competition
       is everything.

Steele always looks so much better coming on then he does
starting games. He's a reasonable second choice, but I'm not
convinced he's of the required calibre to be DC's successor.
Hopefully Gjaltema is the real deal and we can promote from
within. If not, our recruitment team need to get this one spot
on as its a pivotal position. Given our style of play and recent
success, we should be an attractive proposition for a lot of
       scrum halves.

Afraid I disagree here. He’s never struck me as the on-field
coach (like Wigglesworth, Ford, Farrell, etc) and everything I
have heard him say in the matter seem to show he’s not leaning
       that way.
In this week’s BBC pod, Care talks about knowing his own
responsibilities and those of the forwards for each play whereas
       Ford knows everyone’s.
I’d be 100% surprised if he doesn’t end up in the media -
hopefully after a run out for the BaaBaas.

Yes. I’d agree with that. I can see him aiming to emulate Ugo
Monye rather than going down the coaching route.

Oh yes, media is certainly his aim. I just meant that I think
(and hope) they will find ways to keep him involved and pass on
his expertise to Gjaltema and any other scrum halves that come
       in.
That is perhaps fanciful, in terms of fitting him in to the
salary cap. But I think he has a lot to give and it would be a
shame for that to just walk out of the door!

I still think that his replacement is not currently at Quins,
when he goes we will bring someone in.
