To add some context, that article links to this one from
October:

Which uses the same Care quote and says it’s from “earlier this
year”. I’d suggest Care said it before this season when he did
have one more year left.

Care is top of the try assists in Premiership Rugby this season
equal with Waller of Saints so I would be very careful before
you write him off!

People should remember that Mrs Care is a lawyer with her own
career. In the modern age we shouldn't all only consider the
earning power of an ageing rugby player to decide where families
live. I expect DC will extend his contract on lower terms.

out on’.
Sounds like the end is coming for DC.

There is a part of me that Marler knows his comment will put the
cat amongst the pigeons so is probably baiting us for an
announcement where DC is here for another season..who knows.
As for DC's replacement, Maunder no thank you. I would take Faf
if offered as he could be great for our younger scrum halves to
continue to learn from someone experienced. Going by what player
I'd want without any contractual issues, I'd probably go with
Randall. I feel he would be a great fit with Marcus

I'm going to go out on a limb and say there is no way that Danny
will be leaving the club at the end of the season. Joe was on
the wind up and Danny is playing really well, he's not going to
want to go anywhere and I don't think the club will want him too
either

If Danny does leave (which I’d be surprised considering how
settled he is in the area and I think he’d take a lower salary
to stay), I’d like us to go for Jack van Portfleet of Leicester.
Quality young player with the world at his oyster, similar
player to Danny too.

They have moved house a few months ago so I am sure he is not
going anywhere, it will just be when he has had enough.
