Is this season Danny Care's last as a rugby player for Quins

Bear in mind he only received a one year extension last season,
but I don't know who could step up to replace him yet.

Danny Care reveals next move as Harlequins exit nears
Danny Care has taken steps towards a new career after dumping
his long-term advisors Esportif to sign up with entertainment
specialists Insanity Group. Insanity call themselves a forward
thinking global entertainment company that look after Radio 1 DJ
Jo Whiley and former Spandau Ballet frontman Martin Kemp.
Former England star Care is set to continue playing for Quins
until the end of the season, but joining up with Insanity is
clearly looking at a post-rugby career in entertainment. Care,
who already hosts a rugby podcast for the BBC (Rugby Union
Weekly), is also thought to be keen to follow former teammate
Chris Robshaw to the USA for a season before retiring.
“I have never really thought about playing abroad until I saw
the LA Giltinis team and I was like hang on, I like their kit, I
like where they play, I like the place that they are from and I
might be a good fit,” Care explained.
The LA Giltinis already have a number of high-profile names in
their squad, with Wallabies legends Matt Giteau and Adam
Ashley-Cooper both currently playing their rugby in Los Angeles.

I'm ready - I haven't played scrum half for 40 years since
Senior Colts - but I'm ready...

Might we assume that DC's dip in form recently coincided with
being told that there was no new contract for him at the end of
this season? I love DC but with the salary cap pinch and the
likes of Dombrandt and Smith no doubt commanding big bucks, it's
possible that there just isn't the space in the cap for him
going forward...

I don't think it's a bad thing, he will leave eventually and we
need to find the right player. Could be Steele, could be
Gjaltema or Stafford or maybe they're eying a Quirke or Randall
to work with Smith and Dommers.
Either way, until he is playing less games we won't know how
good the others are.
He'll always be a legend at Quins and he was sensational at the
back end of last season when he started letting Marcus run the
show.

I could just about live with trading Danny to Fullers if it
means never having to put up with Green King ever again.

No no no no no no no. No.
Whilst there have already been a few surprise transfers this
season, I can’t see him leaving any time soon.
Rumours that Faf may leave at the end of the season but whenever
he goes, Raffi has time to learn from a world class player and
would then be the clear #1 for us.

Another one on this forum who has completely mis-read the
tactical changes which happened after Paul Gustard’s “departure”
Prior to Gustard leaving Quins were playing off No.10 but Marcus
was too deep and the backs were too deep behind him … the ball
was going from CARE to SMITH to the backs and Quins were too
often getting caught 10-15 years behind the gain line
Chris Ashton came to Quins to break the Premiership try scoring
record but got frustrated because the ball wasn’t getting wide
enough fast enough and ended up throwing his toys out of the
pram and leaving
After Gustard left Marcus was dragged forward to play flatter
and Quins started to use Esterhuizen & Dombrandt as first
receivers … this co-incided with Quins’ set-piece becoming
dominant and providing quick first phase ball for Care to work
with … Smith could then sit back in the pocket and choose when
to get involved … similar to how Care & Evans operated during
the trophy winning years
We have often been told that Quins change in approach was
“player led” but nobody has ever said which players … although
Billy Millard hinted at it in his pitch-side interview after the
Premiership Final
If Ashton had stuck it out he would probably have the try
scoring record by now and Louis Lynagh’s story might be very
different
The key to last season’s success was the impact our 4 South
African players had … one of the reasons we are not hitting the
heights of last season is that they are slightly “off the pace”
at present … Wilco Louw has an excuse as he has been injured …
André Esterhuizen is making yards ball in hand but is dropping
too many passes … Tyrone Green made some great breaks earlier in
the season but more recently is being “double teamed” by
opposition defences and is turning the ball over and the
line-out struggled at the start of the season but had been
improving until Stefan Lewies returned from injury and it has
all gone “pear shaped” again
Quins are not far off being where they were in the second half
of last season and once everything starts sticking again there
is no reason why we cannot replicate last season’s success

Have you tried Bath BQ? Your financial demands shouldn't be an
issue anymore!
