The biggest difficulty for the NHS at the moment isn't
hospitalisations it's that NHS workers are going down with the
virus, vastly reducing capacity, especially in London where
coincidentally* we have the lowest rate of vaccinations in the
       country

But being vaccinated doesn't stop you getting it or passing it
on unfortunately. I have at least 4 friends who have all been
double and in one case triple Jabbed who have got it and have to
isolate. One of them is a nurse...

No but it spreads (and mutates) more effectively amongst the
unvaccinated, creating the issues for everyone else

Im surprised the squad announcements foe both teams haven't
happened today. I thiught with tomorrow being Christmas eve they
would have been posted today, but I guess tomorrow is still a
       working day.

According to the BG update yesterday:
“Team news will be announced at 12:00 on Boxing Day, look out
       for your team's line-up.”

For what it’s worth, as ever the on-pitch guard of honour will
be Quins Ams kids and this year Yareet Jnr is due to be part of
       it.
We’ve therefore had numerous communiqués about BG13. As of this
morning, there have been a few minor tweaks but the plans still
look to be for everything to go ahead pretty much as normal.

actually be higher, even if it’s a smaller proportion of total
cases. Given that it’s also sufficiently different from other
variants that vaccines are significantly less effective, there’s
arguably an even stronger case for lockdown if case counts keep
       rising.

More seriously, my day job is advising companies on strategy, so
I spend a lot of time reading on trends across a range of topics
and making sure I understand what they mean. But in this case
it’s just basic maths: if the increase in infectiousness is
large enough to offset the decrease in severity of symptoms,
then we need to take measures to reduce the spread.
