Agree. I think people are focusing too much on who isnt playing,
and are not seeing the issues with who is playing. Lets hope
Care gets back into the groove Sunday

They should have enough to see us lot off.

Surprised Tigers don’t have Albus Dumbledore on the bench who
they can bring on in the back row for some experience

Bears must be fuming about being dropped.
Marchant and Northmore both missing is a blow. That said, Huw
Jones on his day can be great and has a bit of recent playing
time so hopefully clicks.
Shame on about the injury list.
Never a fan of a 6-2 bench. It's an admission that we'll try to
match them at their game, not play ours.
We'll see though, can't wait. COYQ

Why should he be ‘fuming’? He had a good home debut, but Lynagh
and Murley are deservedly ahead of him. If he doesn’t recognise
that, he’s delusional*.
*I would be surprised and disappointed if that is the case. From
watching his interviews last week, he was grateful for the
opportunity and really enjoyed it. He doesn’t strike me as being
in any way entitled or lacking perspective and I think he’ll be
fine with accepting a gradual introduction into the first team
mix. Pretty normal for an academy prospect in the breakthrough
season.

I wonder if Beard does have quite a responsible role here, due
to squad selection. Presumably Gjaltema is a natural sub for
Care. But Beard would have to cover quite a few players here,
and may not know how he will be deployed until moments
beforehand do you think? That seems a little stressful to me,
although I am merely an old git with a fungal toe infection.

To be fair, I think it's more that the starting 10-15 can be
shuffled around quite well depending on who they want subbed.
Here's the list:
10. Marcus Smith
11. Cadan Murley
12. Andre Esterhuizen
13. Huw Jones
14. Louis Lynagh
15. Tyrone Green
Beard really only has to cover outside centre and wing. If Green
comes off, Lynagh moves to 15, Beard at 14. Either wing comes
off, Beard is a straight replacement. Smith comes off and Green
moves up to 10, Lynagh to 15, Beard to 14. Esterhuizen off means
Jones to 12, Beard to 13. Jones coming off would be a straight
swap for Beard.

Excellent analysis Fred, just how I saw it. If we consider that
had either Northmore or Marchant been fit, the bench would have
been different with Jones on it and that makes the cover of wing
a bit more difficult, so looks a good call by the coaches.
If Beard comes on and bags a couple, then it puts pressure on
Murley/Lynagh so a nice problem to have.

In a way, where we slot Oscar in is a nice question to have to
answer. We have two great young wingers starting in Murley and
Lynagh and Green at fullback. In the short term, being able to
play three out of the four is great but we have to keep them all
happy and that's going to be difficult. Even moving him to 13
is complicated as usually Marchant and Northmore share that
shirt.
The bigger issue is what happens if Marcus goes down. Even if we
put green at 10, playing too much off 9 hasn't worked well for
us in recent weeks. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

I wanted Beard to start, but super happy with Lynagh back. I
hope he has a stormed and wins the game with a last minute try.
Come on your Quins. Let's stuff the tigers and stuff the tigers.
