Hegarty only joined Tigers this season and Porter (a centre) and
Simmonds (a scrum half/occasional wing) aren’t exactly stellar
competition for he 15 shirt.

but George Worth was probably never going to make it and the
others you mentioned either weren’t there at the time or aren’t
specialist fullbacks. Poor point, badly made IMO.

You have your opinion, it is not facts, you have no inside
knowledge of the Tigers team or players, neither do I. Freddie
Burns has been playing at full back for us whilst Steward was
away with England, did a good job is he a specialist, he is if
he does the job for us. You need to look up the definition of
the word fact I think.

Completely right that Murimurivalu is the only specialist FB you
listed though (and even he has played on the wing a fair few
times for Tigers). Listing the likes of Porter really undermined
your argument.

We’ve been undercooked for quite a few games now so it’s hard to
imagine anything other than a LBP. We simply are making too many
mistakes and handling errors to compete with a rampant Tiggers
side

Yep going to be a very hard day, but really looking forward to
my first trip to Welford Rd.
Tigerburnie - Any top tips on food at the ground?

Our maul defence has long been a weak link for us and there is
no doubt that Tigers will seek to exploit that weakness. When
CSW came on against Saints, it improved dramatically so I'd like
to see him on the bench for that alone

Well we'll be able to analyse more later when the teams are
posted. If we can get our first XV out (with Lynagh, not Beard)
then we'll have a chance of achieving something plus in the
backs of Tigers minds they know that a 20 point halftime lead is
not enough.
As always, the forwards need to front up and aim for parity on
the set piece. Danny worries me, his form isn't great and Van
Portfleet will do to him what Quirke did to him if he doesn't
sharpen up. I accept Youngs may start which will even that out a
bit.
If they play what's in front of them, they'll get close.

Burns is a career fly half / perennial bench-warmer getting
games at 15 while Steward is unavailable, which tells you all
you need to know about the competition for 15 at Tigers (not a
criticism, by the way: for a long time we had no good
alternative to Mike Brown). If we're looking up definition of
words, do you want to take a quick look at "specialist"? It's
not "well, he's doing a job for us".

Didnt work with LI or Sarries recently - shut down our midfield
and stop the offloads and force us wide too soon...
Hopefully, the "Restoration of the Magi" - aka
Donbrandt-Care-Smith-Esther - will break the seal and we can
force a result; I don't think Quins work on the "it will be
alright in the end" scenario - they have excelled here, but its
not the plan - I hope!

"Shut down the midfield" worked for Sale - I think for Sarries
and LI it was more "get Allan off the pitch"

I actually think Tempest will be the key man for this one. He's
one of those refs who, once he makes a couple of early decisions
against a particular side, doesn't tend to flip the other way.
If we can get some early dominance at set piece and the
breakdown, he might finally be our best friend. Orrr he'll
continue to ping us incessantly as he has done in the past. We
need to get on his good side for this one - if Tigers get any
early rumbles on, Welford Rd will carry Tempest off into the
night.
