ahead of him. He could arguable have complaints if Morris did,
but Lynagh was in possession of the shirt and has done nothing
wrong. I'm not sure Beard would consider that he'd been dropped,
especially not for a poor performance, rather that the man
previously in possession is now back available. All beard has to
do is make the decision as hard one for Matson.

Yes, he is inexperienced, but so was Lynagh last season. He was
not as polished then as he is now. Beard should not be dropped
after an impressive outing against Irish. His game involvements
       were much better than Murley.

       Unless your a Fisherman!
Lynagh back in for me if fit, not a slight on Beard at all he
knows he's behind Lynagh but is giving a good account of
himself. The positioning and bul will come.
I quite like the idea of Marchant at 14 for this one, similar to
what England tried until Manu broke again. I'd be happier if
Northmore were at 13 in that scenario but would rather have
Marchant in the centres if not.
Looking forward to going although it'll be bloody cold again and
always good banter with the Tigers faithful.

I would say Beard's defensive positioning is why he may be
dropped this week - vey good going forward, not so good
       defending.....

You guys really don't get what I'm saying. A bloke that age
who's just come through the academy and has managed to get some
game time here and there purely because of injury, with obvious
quality players ahead of him, will not have expectations of
starting matches when those players are fit. They'll have a much
more measured view of where they're at than you lot, it seems.
When the Currys, Smith, etc broke through they were very quickly
good enough to be considered as a live first choice option
regardless of injuries. Beard isn't, and he knows that, and
there'll be no bitterness as a result. He's not currently better
than any of our wings, or as good as them.
The phrase "no-one at that age" is obviously wrong, I accept
that. I also think it should be pretty obvious that I'm not
talking about established first team players. I bet you Freddie
Steward didn't expect to be selected on the back of a game and a
half for the senior team in the Premiership. He also doesn't
have much in the way of competition at Tigers!

In fact, turns out Steward is a great example of this. He made
his first league appearances for Tigers because of injury way
back in 2019. Like Beard, he played some Prem Cup games, and got
game time in the league when Worth got injured.
The next season he made 10 appearances.
None of that screams "expecting to be selected", right? Steward
back then was where Beard is now, even though he was younger at
       the time.

Bryce Hegerty, Kini Murimuvalu, Guy Porter, Harry Simmonds, some
with international caps, so no not much competition, seems
there's not much competition for the England spot either lol.

I'm with Jammy, this thread has lost a little bit of
perspective. Beard plays one good game for us (up against a
pretty bang average Prem winger might I add - Murley literally
switched from the left wing to the right to cover OHC, leaving
Beard up against Rowe) and suddenly there's a clamour for Beard
to lead us into a new era and onto bigger and better things.
Lynagh? Nah forget about him, he's been USURPED! Ridiculous.
       Now for some reality:
Murley is miles ahead of him, Lynagh is miles ahead of him. They
are our two starting wingers when fit. Marchant if and when he's
selected there is miles ahead, when Morris is back fit I'd
expect him to go ahead of Beard in the pecking order, and then
Nick David is waiting in the wings too... We also have other
quality wingers and centres coming through our academy who might
expect to be drafted in for the odd game - as Beard was on this
particular occasion last week. I actually think of all our
academy backs, Lennox looks the most ready to break into the
team - but again, he'll need an injury to a first choice centre
to get a look in. He knows the score in the same way Beard does.
I'm not saying Beard shouldn't start for us again this season -
injuries provide opportunities and I'm sure he'll take his next
one when it comes along - but to say he's ready to go up against
Tigers in a huge game? No, that's just not where he's at in his
       development.

‘Lol’ at what? Jammy posted facts …
Murimuirvalu is the only specialist fullback (and only
international) who was there at the time Steward broke through.
Hegarty only joined Tigers this season and Porter (a centre) and
Simmonds (a scrum half/occasional wing) aren’t exactly stellar
       competition for he 15 shirt.
Steward is 100% there on merit and absolutely took his chance,
but George Worth was probably never going to make it and the
others you mentioned either weren’t there at the time or aren’t
specialist fullbacks. Poor point, badly made IMO.
