That is a but harsh on Oscar Beard. He looked to the manor born
against Irish. He deserves to start on the wing again. Merchant
at 13 and Beard on the wing.
Lynagh needs to work to get back in. If fit his impact from the
bench could be excellent.
I have not been too impressed with Hugh Jones so far. I would
like to see Lennox Ayanouw given a chance to impress from the
bench.

I've a vague recollection of seeing something on Instagram about
Wilco Louw being in week 3 of 5 weeks of rehab. Hopefully I'm
wrong.

I think we'll need the bulk of CSW to counter the Tigers maul
threat, he really made a difference against Saints when he came
on

Wasn't beard caught out of position on several occasions? Work
in progress for me.

At least one of the penalties against Walker was a totally
incorrect call from the ref. He was called for movement after
the tackle when the closest LI got to a tackle was to place a
hand on Walker's back as he went over. He does get pinged a bit,
but I think that's partly down to how much he puts in - he
offers himself for work a heck of a lot.

With the new kicking laws 50/22, the jobs of the wingers is
getting tougher. I believe Beard is more of a centre anyway.
I thought he took his tries well and will learn from the
experience. It would be harsh to drop him after a game where he
scored two tries.

I wouldn't see it as "dropping" him. Beard is VERY young and
looks a good prospect, but there are others ahead of him when
fit - Lynagh being one of them. Beard did very well against Rowe
of LI, but going up against the likes of Nadolo is a different
kettle of fish. Injury may well necessitate his selection, but
if not I'd rather we go with one of our more established squad
members and protect Beard's development. I think he's still got
a bit of bulking out to do before we see him competing to be a
regular starter.

Well he could feel like he is being dropped.
I cannot see them dropping him and bring in Lynagh who has not
played any rugby for a while now.
Beard is not striking violet. He is roughly 6ft and well over 15
stone. Agreed he can fill out more but he is already a unit.

He's a 20 year old who's only playing because of injuries. He
knows his place in the pecking order and no-one at that age has
any expectations for selection.

I think your assertion that he's a "unit" is a little fanciful
and still think he's too green for Tigers. I think we'll see
Marchant at 14 to combat Ford's kicking game and Northmore at 13
if fit, if not then Jones.
