Just back from Welford Road and from my opinion, we just did not
click again. Happy with taking 3 points offer keeps scoreboard
ticking over. I don’t think we’re using Andre wisely which is
losing us shape in attack.
Defence is getting better.
It will click and hopefully on 27 Dec, not too bothered about
Europe yet maybe into next round if we can but I think we need
to consolidate as Premiership contenders.

I actually thought we would win it at the end. I was thinking,
just do the simplest lineout and trundle around for a bit and
get Marcus a kick at the posts. Tigers won't want to risk a
penalty so we'll possibly get a light touch defence of the
lineout. But no...can't even catch the blinking ball man!

Yes, it was a bit of a damp squib, having put ourselves in a
position to do something.
There were a few times where we were bullish and showed our
assertive side. I thought this was going to be another one. Oh
well.
Perhaps a few changes next week but hopefully not wholesale. I
think we need to gel and that means re-connecting the key
partnerships: Smith and Dommers; Louis and Tyrone; André and
Joe/Luke. If Huw Jones continues at 13 alongside André, I hope
they have a really good week together in training.

We also seem to still kick aimlessly where as they were kicking
to compete.
But a LBP is not a bad result.

A LBP was not bad seeing as we were missing 20% of our first
choice team, Symons, Wilko and Marchant. The first two are huge
losing the pack doing huge amount of work. Yes the stand in
players have done well, but the team would be improved with
these three. Joe I think would have taken the right option and
committed the man and then passed!
Will Evans when he returns I think still pips Kenningham but not
by much and having both in the squad is a wonder place to be

Seriously? Even the commentators worked out that Tempest
effectively acted unwittingly as a blocker.

You're right, a try without Tempest was highly likely not
certain, but any prosecution would point out that the
commentators were Ben Kay and Austin Healey.

Yes, I think Dommers would have made it.

The big picture for me is:
- Power teams have given us trouble, as we always expected, but
we took a bonus point from each loss and the defence and scrum
has gone better each time
- Two of the losses have been when we've lost Allan
- The lineout isn't working brilliantly - especially against
teams with a strength in disrupting it - but it is the first
season of a new hooker and we've barely managed to put our first
line lock combo out
- We still have several key players out injured.
- This is the dead of winter, which is the hardest time for a
team like Quins who have a squad geared around more pleasant
conditions.
- It's a more competitive league this year, and we're losing
players to International rugby.
I think that Quins have the firepower to be in the top 4 at the
end of the season if they are still in touch at the end of the
6N.

I was expecting carnage yesterday after the incipid performance
against the Nots last week and the run Leicester are on but it
didn't turn out that way. In isolation an LBP isn't a bad result
- it's just frustrating that we didn't take the chance to win
it. I agree with poorfour that we can make it into the top 4 if
we're in touch post 6 nations. Hopefully injuries will be kind.
