Yeah, omicron seems to be insanely contagious.

Saracens are forced to forfeit their European Challenge Cup
clash

Well, I'm assuming Saracens are taking much the same precautions
as we are, so it takes just one crack in the protective
shield...

It depends what happens. Premier league clubs have reported
cases, and yet been able to carry on. On the other hand, a
couple have had to close their training grounds.

The difference in training between the two sports means
comparison isn't easy. If you've got the forwards practicing
scrummaging & lineout/maul drills there's a higher risk I would
suggest than footballers practicing their skills.

Hmmmm, omnicrom appears to be doubling every 2 days, and with
today’s confirmed # of around 4600 in 12 days , at a doubling
every day! that’s a possibility of over 16 million , seems
pretty unlikely as that’s 25% of the UKs population but who
knows?
Personally think we are going to be very lucky not to be in an
enforced locked by then anyway......

If any social restrictions are implemented i wont be taking a
blind bit of notice. How can they expect us to follow the rules
(which I have done to date) but then have their own parties
behind closed doors in Downing Street at xmas whilst it meant I
couldn't go and see my grandparents last year? We were also
categorically told vaccine passports wouldn't materialise but
here we are. I think they know the buy in now would be much
less, and i think also the end of Boris is slowly getting ready.
With still a few weeks to go and the new Omnicron cases
spreading, (but, is it anymore serious?) I can imagine some knee
jerk reaction. Stay at home and don't go to rugby, but if you
cannot stay at home, go and watch rugby.

Probably a good job your MP wasn't Charlie Elphicke if you think
it is ok to copy the behaviour of disgraced politicians!

Watford vs Burnley cancelled because of Covid - I fear for the
Big Game at Twickers

With the upsurge of cases, I suspect there will be new measures
introduced and Big Game may well be postponed. I know it is
outside, but there are now over 60- 70,000 tickets sold. It will
be a blow as I was so looking forward to it. However, I
attended the funeral of a friend who died of Covid yesterday. As
soon as restrictions were lifted he went back to watching his
football teams every week. I certainly am thinking about
restricting what I do over the coming days as I don't want Covid
over Christmas, despite the fact I am double jabbed and boosted.

Heh Maidstone Quin. Here is a message from my mum (she is now
96). My mum used to say to me "if one of your friends put their
head in a gas oven would you do it?". This was an old saying,
based on the occasional suicide that was possible when gas in
the old days was made from coal and contained large amounts of
lethal carbon monoxide. People did try to commit suicide in that
way. But what she meant was, something like, would you walk out
in front of a bus, just because someone else did?
