It amazes me that Itoje seems to get away with such things every
time I see him play. But that's the way the cookie crumbles.
England won, well done, deserved the win, maybe next time it
will be different. Enjoy the victory. In any game, both sides
are culpable of "getting away with stuff". England are no
different.

Ha, so after SA head coach got banned for posting a video with
commentary on how bad the ref was during lions. There's now an
video with strange music and no commentary pointing out how bad
the ref is. Of course just a coincidence....

The penalty count was 18-8 against England, you're not going to
get much traction suggesting we got lucky with the ref

Strange logic. Maybe the penalty count could have been higher.
If the team got away with anything, then they got lucky. Both
teams got lucky. But if you think the ref was one-sided, then
explain the things that England did get away with.

SA are going to get themselves an unwanted reputation as
whingers if they carry on like this. If they think it will
influence officials in their direction I think they are very
wrong. If I was a ref being criticised by them I think I might
be inclined to carry on as normal. For them to claim bias after
an 18-8 penalty count is bazar.

So do we respond in kind with a Video showing all of SA's
heinous crimes, or do we just park it under "Don't feed the
Trolls"?

The TAS video does point out several that England genuinely or
technically got away with. Itoje's intervention in the Kwagga
non-try could easily have been penalised. Malins' tackle from
the floor looks like it initially was - but the AR seems to have
expressed a view that he made the tackle in getting back to his
feet (certainly it's within the spirit of the law - he wasn't
just interfering with play lying on the ground but was moving
away from the tackle area and rising until he made contact).
Lawes coming onto the pitch prematurely could have been
penalised (and might yet cop a fine) - but again, given that a)
time was off b) the entire Bok backroom staff still permitted to
be on the touchline were on the field c) England gained no
advantage from it and d) the penalty was against the Boks anyway
it would have been very harsh.
If you went through the replay you could find dozens of
technical offences by both sides, often at the same breakdown,
that were waved on or where a different infringement won the
penalty. That's rugby, and it's literally the first thing you
are told about reffing rugby on the ref's award: you can blow
for any number of things at any ruck, but your job is to decide
which ones - if any - are impeding a fair contest.

I was keen for a discussion, which is why I asked you to provide
the ones you were unhappy with so I could take a look.
I thoroughly believe it's impossible for a rugby team to NOT get
away with things during a match, because the sport is impossible
to referee precisely. I just don't have any time for the
suggestion that England were lucky despite getting whistled off
the park, given SA's approach to the breakdown and their
somewhat loose approach to physical safety.
Obviously if you don't give a flying one then there's no need to
discuss it.
