Or only 3rd time played at the Big Stoop. Do you think he felt
more pressure v Chiefs or SA? I think Chiefs. I think he played
       there in Big Game 12?

How many times has he played at the Big Stoop? Twice at least in
his debut season, against Irish and Saints. Must be into double
       figures now.

Returning to the penalty count, which some of you have commented
on, did any of you find the one-sided penalty count a little
       surprising?
I was pretty surprised at some of the calls, especially around
the ruck area where there are typically lots of 50-50 calls. The
England back rowers are generally very well trained in that
situation, and I didn't really understand what the ref wanted
for some of those penalties. Some of my buddies think the ref
was just a bit trigger happy and that the game would have been
allowed to run a bit more by some other refs, which might have
resulted in the penalty count becoming more even.

I think the penalty count was a direct result of the physical
pressure the saffers were hitting us with. International
standard players can probably adapt to how a referee wants to
control a game within half a game at the very least. Our penalty
count sky rocketed when the saffas turned the screws in the 2nd
       half.

There were probably about 4-5 really stupid penalties conceded
by England, but at one point it did become a joke that SA were
allowed to do literally whatever they wanted at the breakdown
without any fear of a penalty going against them.

Yeah. He's still the worst defender in the team, but he's a
gloriously skilled player when given the opportunity to shine
(i.e. when teams are running scared of what Smith might do to
them, and when there isn't a robot next to him hogging the ball)

There is a video analysis doing the rounds of the England
penalties and of the ref bias against SA.
but - it looks a lot of sour grapes.
       Here it is

I think the first part of the video about Malins making a tackle
from the floor is a pretty fair point - I thought watching it
live that he was lucky to get away with it (it's a great effort
       from Malins too btw).
The rest of it is all quite minor and very much cherry picking
at best and just plain wrong in large parts - I particularly
enjoyed the complaint about Kolisi yellow yard, saying that he
was in a position to compete for the ball - he knew exactly what
he was doing and pretty lucky not to see red in my view (given
that Marchant lands on his head).

That video is hilarious. The music elevates it from the merely
pathetic to a higher form of art.
You'd think that as the reigning world champs, having won the
Lions series and being ranked world no 1, their supporters would
be a bit happier and not so obsessed with this grand conspiracy
to cheat them. They lost very narrowly, away from home, at the
end of a long tour. Hardly a disgrace and really not grounds for
       such an over-reaction.
I notice whoever made this failed to mention the involvement of
their physio, who nearly got in the way of play as she
       celebrated a try that wasn't.
I did think though that England were lucky not to suffer any
consequences from Lawes and others running to celebrate
prematurely at the end. That was pretty braindead. Hopefully
       lesson learned.
