Then what's the point of putting him the squad to begin with?

I think he has been part of the discussions - I read somewhere
that he joined by zoom. But he hasn't trained with the squad.
As to why put him in the squad... Well there are chuff all fit
EQP looseheads left. Apart from Mako, who against the Books
would be a penalty machine, and not in a good way.

In the wider squad or the match day squad?
Wider squad - because he’s played in the AIs and how could
anyone know he was going to get Covid?
Match day squad - because the only alternative from within the
wider squad is to play Rodd and Davison who have 3 caps between
them. Alongside a hooker with 4 caps and a #16 who was only
considered Championship standard before this season.

Marcus has cemented himself as Englands premier 10 now after
       that performance.
Also, I thought Marchant was excellent today and was
       instrumental in Raffi’s try.
Much to work on for England though, we can’t go into the 6
nations with a penalty county like that. Plus, I’m not convinced
about our line out..but hopefully George/LCD will be involved,
as Blamire and Dolly were very wayward.

It’s great that we beat SA . I don’t find their brand of rugby
very inspiring at the moment. 3 tries to one shows how they want
to kick their way to a win and today they failed. I wonder why
we kept kicking the ball back to them when playing a bit was
       scoring us tries.

Thought Marcus and Marchant played really well today. Didn't
look fazed by the situation at all. However you can see that
Marcus isn't yet getting the running lines from the other
players as he would at Quins; a few times he had no other
options but to pass to a stationary forward who is in the way as
opposed to someone cutting a line.

Good display by the young backs today when they were able to get
ball in hand and use a bit of speed.
Tualangi can't seem to catch a break and it could have been a
much different game with him outside Marcus. In an ideal world
this would be an end to Farrell as a starter with Marcus showing
he can run the game and place kick, maybe being a bench option
       coming on as 10/12 cover.
May seemed to have a bit of a poor game
Forwards seemed to go from really good at the start to pretty
bad in the 2nd half. Hopefully a more settled front row can come
in for the 6Nations. Then we just need Eddie to pick the best
       players in their best positions.
It's nice to actually enjoy watching England rugby again.

I didn’t really get the high kicks Marcus was putting in. We
didn’t get a whole lot of reward as a result. I’m guessing it
was a coaching instruction but I’ve not really seen him do it
       much/ever for Quins.

I'd respectfully disagree. For me they were good, high kicks
that gave the chasers a real chance. Of course he's playing a
different game plan for England than for Quins.
That said, the art of scoring tries despite being under the cosh
is a bit of a Quins trick...

Bragging right at Surrey Sports Park this week would be worth
listening in on. Joe Marler and Wilcow and Joe and Andre in
       particular.
