I've used that bus service to Richmond a few times in the past.
You can queue for 20mins easily to get onto the bus unless
you're in the North East Corner, Lower level of the stadium &
get there quickly. Also, it can take a while for the bus to get
out onto the A316 as well so it can be 40+ minutes before you
get to the drop off point at Richmond Station.

I live very close to Twickenham stadium. Getting to either of
the Hounslow tube stations is pretty easy. You can walk to
Hounslow East in around half an hour.
If you use
HTML https://what3words.com/
then it will make it easy to
find the bus stops
You can catch the H22 bus from here ///moods.exact.fled
The H20 bus from here ///solve.woof.pint
Or - take a ten minute walk to the Ailsa Tavern for a drink and
catch the H37 bus from here ///woods.fairly.skinny (this way
probably avoids all the traffic)
There are also shuttle busses to Hounslow from here
///chains.nail.puddles
And to Richmond from here ///wide.change.marked
The Richmond ones are usually quite packed.
Or - you can walk to Richmond
via the footbridge here ///refers.loft.putty
then to the Ailsa for refreshments ///civil.during.farm
then over the lock footbridge ///actual.using.rice
And across the footbridge ///upon.agreed.hogs
It also takes around 30 minutes - - but, the lock footbridge
closes at 9:00pm and if closed, then you need to add around 5
minutes as you need to cross here ///lungs.arena.faces

Walk to Strawberry Hill station ///frame.unit.rams (approx 30
mins brisk walk) and catch a train to Waterloo that goes back
via Twickenham & Richmond. You'll be on it before the hoards at
Twickenham and the trains at 01 and 31 past the hour are semi
fast, 33 mins to W'loo

Thanks guys for your travel advice today. In the end we took the
Picadilly line to Hounslow East and then the stadium shuttle
from there to the ground. Reversed it for the return and all
went very smoothly. Only complaint was the queueing at gate A
pre match. Took about 50 minutes to get in, I think because they
initially wanted to see covid passes and no one could log onto
the app because everyone was doing the same thing, so app
wouldn't load. Queue was much quicker when they gave up on this,

In my experience they only look for for that QR code to assume
you're vaccinated. You could get a QR code for cornflakes and
they'd let you in, it's not as if they decode it.
When you have your domestic COVID passport up on the app, you
can save it to your phone as a .pdf file. No need to worry about
phone connections then.

Bit of a non-story but

I guess Twickenham/SWT tweaked something to make it easier.
Similarly I wouldn't be surprised if they don't drop the COVID
test checking after the queues we saw last week.
