On the way there we got the slow train that comes via Wimbledon
and Kingston. We got on at Wimbledon and got seats easily
enough. Getting off at TW was fine and we were led out
underneath the new station into the front of the car park. What
was the car park is now blocks of flats so I think the rebuild
has somewhat cut the flexibility for crowd control somewhat.
Afterwards we made a swift exit and went past the Stoop and went
over the railway and then under the branch and went to the
Albany for a couple of drinks. Got serevd right away as well.
We left fairly early and got to the station having come up the
steps beside the Travelodge. As we weer getting the Wimbledon
train back we joined the queue at that side and got into the
station in a couple of minutes and were on the platform in less
than five minutes. The London bound platform was heaving while
the out of town platform was fine. Ours was the second train and
again we got seats. I think they might have lost the facility to
snake everyone through the car park for the London bound
travellers. Didn't see any problems just busy

Hi all. Bit of advice please for an occasional visitor but going
to the match on Saturday. We are staying in Clerkenwell over
the w/e. What would be the best advice to get to and
particularly from the ground on Saturday? Thanks for helping

To avoid the train issues that everyone's talking about - 38 Bus
to Holborn, then Piccadilly line from Holborn to Hounslow East,
then 281 Bus from Hounslow Bus Station to Twickenham; and vice
       versa.

Btw that is Hounslow East underground. Come out of the station
and turn left. A couple of minutes walk to the bus station for
the 281. But, I think that if you are too close to kick off, the
       route gets diverted.
Or, go to Hounslow Central and then catch the h20 bus to right
       outside to Twickenham Tesco.

QP and NS thanks for your advice. Thinking of the return, would
using the tube be a better bet than a mainline train to Waterloo
       from Hounslow?

There is also the option after the game of getting the free bus
to Hounslow, or Richmond, for tube connections. They run from
the North East of rugby road, up to 2.5 hours after the game
       ends.

Is that near the Tesco roundabout FG? Never used it before but
might give it a go tomorrow.

I think the bus to Hounslow runs from Whitton Dene near Tesco
roundabout and the bus to Richmond is from Rugby road

Firstly, bear in mind I'm local so have never travelled those
routes in match day. In theory using the train is quicker (by
maybe 15 mins) but if you have to wait at the platform for 90
minutes then bus and tube would be much quicker. I doubt there
will be any significant queues at Hounslow East tube station but
I don't know how easy it is to get a bus. Mind you, you could
probably walk from the ground to the tube station in around 30
       minutes.

Also, you could walk to Richmond station and get the District
line in under 30 minutes but that's probably more packed.
Piccadilly trains are normally every 5 mins and District from
Richmond every 10 mins (on weekdays at least).
