They're strategic advisers for someone else's company, not their
       own.

Poorfour, I'm not buying that 'JK and COS looked after Nev'
line! You think the other coaches had little to do with him, or
weren't involved in his training on a daily basis, or he was
some sort of special case who was treated differently than his
       team mates for 9 years?

       No definitely with Landajo.

Certainly takes a special kind of player to make it work
straight away, coaching your previous teammates. I think a lot
of it has to do with subconscious respect. If it's a player that
is already seen as a level above by their peers and already held
in such high regard then it's so much easier to command respect
and buy-in. Then you just have to be a good coach.
I used to work with a guy that played with Steve Borthwick at
Bath. He told me he was the most meticulous lineout technician
you could ever imagine, down to the most miniscule of details -
even for back then. He would spend all of his time perfecting
lineout routines and making sure the rest of his forwards knew
the patterns as well as he did. It's easy to see why someone
like that could transition easily into being a coach, while also
being respected as such by players they played with.

Obviously he was involved in training, but in terms of
development conversations and tactical discussion, what I'd been
told was that only COS had those conversations with NEv.
It's not remotely implausible that your stellar marquee signing
would get different treatment from the other players, even over
       a decade.
