We have the lowest penalty count against us in the league by a
whopping ~ 40% (less than the "leaders") or so - we have had 65
against; next best is Sarries with 80; Tigers "winning" this
race with 109 penalties conceded...

That’s interesting Bolly. I was thinking after the Sarries game
that the penalty count against us was much higher than usual.
What could cause this even though we were at home. My irrational
conclusion was that sir had been unduly harsh on us for some
reason. What conclusion could you come to with the fact that
your average penalty count against per game might be 8 to 10 and
then for one game go up to 16 ish. If you are doing things the
same can it be down to the officiating only?

To be fair, I think Tizard is already doing that. He certainly
hasn’t looked underpowered or lacking in physicality.
Totally agree with you re. Lamb and I’m not ashamed to say I’m a
convert after being unconvinced by him until last season.
I think it just goes to show that players develop differently.
For example, if you’d have asked me 2yrs ago who was the better
prospect out of Tizard and Hammond, I would definitely have gone
with the latter. I’m hopeful Hammond will get there, but Tizard
has just physically matured more quickly and is showing he’s
ready for senior rugby. Hammond needs the gym program they gave
Dino.

Different game, different pressure. Average penalty count is
quite meaningless. Average moan about refs is far more
significant. 🙂

Unless the moaning is driven by heteroscedasticity, whence the
significance of the reffing may induce Simpson's paradox... ;)

I think the boys have done great so far this season.
5 year average points for away semi 65 (3 points per match)
5 year average points for home semi 78 (3.5 points per match)
Quins currently running at 3.85 points per match.
So were tracking ahead of the 5 year average for a home semi and
tracking well ahead of an away semi (aka top 4 finish)
The lads have shown some great spirit, yes, a couple of points
left on the field but for this stage of the season and missing
arguably 2 of our best players to England for the last 2 matches
we are still preforming well with a bonus point win and bonus
point loss in the last 2 games.
Just need the lads to keep going and build a bit of a cushion
for the 6 nations but based on what I've seen a top 4 is very
much on and in our own hands and a home semi is a real prospect.
Great job by the lads and the coaching/physio team.

I think this would be easier to visualise if DOK were to add a
link to the Roadmap.
