If you don’t understand the title of the thread and then comment
on it not being of interest to you then there is no hope. One of
the reasons this thread exists maybe because there are many
Harlequins playing but some people wouldn’t know that because
they can’t be bothered with it. Well done our players especially
Amy getting a hatrick and player of the match.

During the commentary the NZ broadcasters made reference to the
English players being FT professionals. Could somebody on this
board comment on whether the Quins women team is also FT
professional, and for that matter the other teams in the English
women's premiership league.
I enjoyed watching those two games. It was a good game of rugby
even thou the scoreline was a bit one sided.
Thanks

I believe Harlequins are full time. Saracens are too
As for England, there are 28 players in the squad that RFU
awarded full time contracts.

I'm almost certain the Quins team isn't full time. Two of the
fringe players are friends of a friend and they both have day
jobs.
Also - if you look at the economics of it, it would require the
club to pick-up pretty much the whole tab. I don't think
there's any TV money and gate receipts would be very low, eg the
game at the weekend was free entry.
And ... thinking about it, you never see daytime training photos
for the women, like you do with the men.

I have been to watch a few of the Quins Ladies games and they
are always gratefull for the support.
Can only be good thing in my opinion that they get mentioned on
the official and unofficial media.
My partner used to play for local team, she had a run out a few
months ago for a charity pub side match.
ended up with right shiner too.

There is a salary cap which is 120k I think. That’s the whole
squad not per player. England players get paid something like
28k. No idea what individual players get at their respective
clubs but most probably only get expenses. I believe that Quins
said they don’t pay their players but they get help with
accommodation and other benefits. That might be different now.
Any income would be from sponsorship and gate receipts at some
games.
Most women’s teams in the Premiership are part of a
Premiership club who ultimately foot the bills. They are the
ones that can afford to. That’s why teams like Richmond can no
longer afford to compete at the top level.
