The false assumption you make is that you assume those players &
their families live in Tonga. "The bulk of the 'Ikale Tahi squad
will be drawn from players already plying their trade in the
Northern Hemisphere, with Covid-19 travel restrictions making it
difficult to include players from Australia and New Zealand",
and as we seen with the Wallabies release from Japanese clubs.

Yeah. Actually it was just a light-hearted nod to a poster on
here. But you wouldn't have known that.

I liked it BB, thought it was very amusing. There's nothing
England can do about the finances of Tongan rugby other than
play them at Twickers or a summer tour down there so we
shouldn't feel guilty about £500 a week v £70k.
I'd picket world rugby If I were you.

The RFU are at least making a 6-figure payment to the Tongan
Union.

I thought part of the issue was that playing against the PIs was
almost the worst thing to do.
World Rugby’s agreement is that the home team has to fund the
match but keeps the gate receipts.
If a PI team plays at Twickenham, they have all the costs of
getting here and paying their players/staff but get no revenue.
If England go to a PI nation, the home team has all the cost of
hosting a Tier 1 test team but can’t charge enough for tickets
to cover the cost.
Either way, the PIs lose out.
Donations by the RFU are a great step but there needs to be a
change in approach when Tier 1 countries play teams from Tier 2
unions.
