England have damaged Marcus already...

Fly-half Marcus Smith may miss the game against Tonga after a
minor leg injury restricted him to minimal training before
Saturday's match.
The 22-year-old has been tipped to be given a run in the team
this autumn in the absence of George Ford.
"Marcus hasn't done much this week, just a bit of ball
handling," said head coach Eddie Jones.
"We've been conservative with him, but we are cautiously
optimistic he'll be all right."
Smith's injury is one of a string of backline issues for Jones
to work around.
At full-back, Leicester's Freddie Steward is a doubt with a leg
injury, while Saracens Max Malins, who can play 15, is
definitely out as he continues rehabilitation on an injury
picked up on club duty.
Sale scrum-half Raffi Quirke is out of contention for the Tonga
match with an injury picked up on club duty.
With Bristol's Harry Randall already sent back to his club with
a hip injury, Northampton's uncapped Alex Mitchell seems likely
to make his debut behind the experienced Ben Youngs at nine.
"We are never desperate, but we are keen for him to be involved
in the game," said Jones when asked about plans to pair Smith
with Owen Farrell at 10 and 12 being potentially derailed.
"It is not frustrating - it is part and parcel of preparing a
team. He will recover well and if we don't get to see him this
week we will see him next week."

Is amazing how:
Randell
Malins
Smith
Steward
Querk
And Lynagh
All have picked up injures around the camp.
What has he got the backs doing?

Lynagh, Malins and Quirke were injured playing (or training) for
their clubs for a start.

Oh - you're spoiling the story...!!!
Perhaps its part of a plan/conspiracy/myth - to not get anyone
new in and revert to his favourites...

According to Bristol board Harry Randall injured himself on the
paddle boards in Jersey I don’t know which team he was in. I am
sure Pat Lam is thrilled. He is out for 8 weeks.

Marcus Smith injury worry leaves England’s new dawn in doubt
HTML https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/sport/rugby/marcus-smith-injury-worry-leaves-englands-new-dawn-in-doubt-41011256.html
“For the younger guys, we have got a
different challenge now. A lot of them haven’t played in front
of crowds and now they go to Twickenham, which is the biggest
rugby crowd in the world.
“Our target is to make sure they don’t do Mexican waves, so we
need to play such a good quality of rugby they haven’t got time
to do that.
“I was at Murrayfield on Saturday and at the 50-minute mark the
Mexican waves were starting to come out. We want to play with
that intensity and physicality which keeps the crowd
interested.”
Have to say I agree. As soon as the Mexican wave starts you know
the crowd is bored.

And Sam Simmonds has been sent back to Exeter - Eddie must
really not like him. I hope this means Dombrandt gets a run out
and not Tom Curry at 8....

I haven't counted, but I saw elsewhere that they've retained 14
forwards for 13 slots in the XXIII, and the spare is a prop. So
Dombrandt is almost guaranteed to play (and probably start,
because he's not a particularly versatile bench option).
