I dont mind the coaches/players getting it wrong. Id rather it
happened and we learnt lessons now than later in the season.
Yesterday wont define the season. There were positives and
negatives. Id still say we are in good shape on the whole.

Feel a bit sorry for Huw Jones, he hasn't been given any game
time to get some form behind him. Not sure why we didn't give
him a start against Bath to be honest.

I'd add Aled Davies' 50-22 late in the second half to this.
Broke a period of dominance for us and set them up to come back
into the game. The game turned completely when they yanked van
zyl off and brought in a more experienced player in their system
at 9.
Allan going off was the big one. We went off 9 too much, didn't
trust playing off 10 as much as we do with Marcus or Tommy there
and became quite predictable. Our season relies on one of the
two being there. We won't have problems when they are.

We messed up three attacking line outs on the 5-10 meter line.
On one of them, I was sure the catcher dropped the ball down,
rather than bring it down in hand. Our strike rate from
attacking line outs is poor, it has been for a while for some
reason. If we have Marcus there, there is an option of
creating something unexpected if we can get the ball out when
the maul - seemingly inevitably- breaks down. But not on
Sunday. The Danny DG seemed to sum up our lack of self-belief
in going for a line out and maul.
But overall, even though we lost, I was relatively happy. I
had to be - the evening before I’d seen my football side going
down and being boring. I’d prefer to see a side lose with
excitement than win and send me to sleep while doing so. When
Gustard was in charge, I was losing the will to go to games.
Even if we win it was dull. I like winning, but if you lose,
for goodness sake lose in style. Don’t send me to sleep.

Agreed.
Wasps away can never be taken lightly but their injury situation
is a full on crisis.
Allan will almost certainly miss the trip, but then our next
Premiership game isn’t until 26th Nov which may give him enough
time to recover. If not, hopefully we’ll have Marcus back for
round 10.

Have you ever, ever, ever seen Sarries decline to take the
points? I never want to play the Sarries way, but by refusing to
take the free points on offer they were laughing at our game
management and their confidence grew cos they knew we'd carry on
banging our heads against their defensive wall. They simply
chipped away. 3 + 3 + 3 ......... we need some pragmatism
sprinkled with our wonderballs!

But when we did go for the points, we missed? When else should
we have gone for points? Should we have gone for the points at
the start of the final when instead we scored a try? Likewise,
should we have gone for the points at the end of the first half
of the final, when instead we scrummed and dombrandt went over?
Our recent success is built on trying to score tries. Of course
take the points if it'll win the game with a couple of minutes
left. Otherwise, why revert to what we were doing under Gustard,
rather than sticking to what won us the Prem?

I think the decision should be -
- are the 3 points definitely kickable?
If yes, then consider kicking them
But, don't take the 3 points if you are chasing a 4th try.
- is a shot at the posts 50/50 at best?
Go for corner or scrum
But, consider going for it if you have scored anything other
than 3 tries and 3 points would win you the game.
I'm not sure that quick taps are worth while since the law
changes introduced this season.
- basically, getting held up over the line results in you
having to start again from the half way line.
IMO, the kick that hit the posts was a 50/50 at best. Kickers
seem to struggle kicking towards the south stand when it is a
little windy.

I'm pretty sure we kicked penalties fairly regularly on our
winning run. We didn't do a full Bristol-style approach of
turning down all kicks at goal to get tries.

IIRCC the kick on Sunday was our first kick for the posts this
season!
