Reading Gustard's comments here is insightful.
If he tried to replicate Eddie Jones in a club environment where
people have contracts and cant just be dropped I suspect they
may well not respond in the same way as with England.
Additionally if this happens day in and day out as it would in a
club environment rather than for short blocks of time in an
international setting it probably grinds you down.
This maybe why the Quins players played with a sense of freedom
from a reduction in pressure when he left. They looked as if a
weight had been lifted from their shoulders.
Who knows!!

Interesting piece. I guess it depends on ones view of the
balance between coaching excellence, high performance and common
decency.

I'm not sure he's an awful person per se. He might be awful to
work for. I suspect he demands the same from himself as he
demands from those around him.

Get our 4 out of there NOW.

He's probably not repeatedly undermining and abusing himself
(not like that) or belittling himself in public, mind.
There's a plethora of coaches who are excellent at their jobs
without making everyone utterly miserable and driving huge
numbers of people out of their own jobs.

I can well believe a large amount of what's written but one
thing sticks out against all that. Marler seems to get on with
him like a house on fire. Then again, not much adds up about the
guy - Jones that is!

I call him, "LUCKY EDDIE". He inherited a great squad from
Lancaster and has a league full of some talented players. Yet
he should be setting the World of Rugby alight with the English
team with the set up. Can you imagine what the other home
Nations would do with his resources? Scotland with two
professional clubs; Wales and Ireland each with four.

You say that but Joe has opted out of several competitions .
Because of the environment? Joe is clearly the best loose head
available so Eddie has to pick him when Joe tells him he’s up
for it.
