Marlers Yellow

When I first saw it in real time from the South stand I
instantly thought it was red, however watching the replays on
the big screen I could see both arms for the wrap, shoulder was
ok and player jumped into the tackle. So if anything pen to
Quins.
Am I way off in my thinking?

Listening to the reflink, it started off as a red card because
his left arm wasn't trying to wrap around the Bath player.
However the decision was that there was mitigation as the Bath
player was toppled forward due to the other player (Esterhuizen
I think) which made the Bath player flip the way he did.

Thought it was harsh, I thought Joe was committed to the tackle
and you could see his right arm was ready to wrap (couldn't see
left arm from the camera angle shown), and looked like
Esterhuizen's tackle changed the direction the Bath player was
going enough to make it look bad.
Pearce started at red, said high danger, not wrapping with left
arm but mitigation of the Esterhuizen tackle i think.

From my seat it looked a pretty horrific fall in real time, but
like you on the big screen replays I was struggling to see what
Andre or Joe did wrong. I thought I saw a clear attempt to wrap
from Joe, and there was a sudden change of angle as Andre
scragged De Glanville which gave little time to adjust.
Hope De Glanville is okay. I'm surprised he was allowed to carry
on to be honest.

I thought it was a very harsh decision. It was a low tackle,
passive rather than active, there was no lift and from what I
could see on the replay Joe’s arms were in position to wrap. The
outcome was bad, and that will always be looked at, but it was
the force of Andre’s (level) tackle that tipped de Glanville
over.
We have to put player safety first, but if you’ve got a
situation where you end up handing out cards for technically
sound tackles because of external factors, it’s gone too far.

Just watched it again, and to me it appears De Granville does
jump into the tackle, Pearce says it is a step rather than a
jump.

I couldn’t see anything wrong with it on the big screen and
didn’t think anything would happen as the player jumped onto the
tackle, which I believe is not allowed, thus causing him to
somersault over. Luckily no harm done. Except the two tries
against us.

Yeah looked awful in real time but on review, not even a yellow.
Refs are too scared not to give something in case, post video
scrutiny, it's found to be dangerous. With a yellow, they cover
their backsides.
The Obano one was weird, his face when he turned into the tackle
looked in sheer agony and I'm sure i heard a scream. To then
carry on and give away a scrum penalty was farcical. And what
was that bloke in the Dr's scrubs all about? Looked like an
extra from a teenage horror flick!
