The disparity in these numbers is a joke.
We are champs and play a attractive style of rugby but 10 games
televised is inane when other teams get 1.
Chiefs are a big team but 9 games of watching them work out a
new way to prelatch?
Sarries getting 8 is laughable, backs my theory that they are
being pushed by BT with all the pundits saying they are amazing
and not a bad word about them (might change with Ugo returning)
I feel like they want the redemption story and to help clean the
slate if they win.
Then they can just say oh look they would of won anyway and
carry on with their one making them into the poster boys of the
prem like they were a few years ago.
Tigers getting 8 is strange but they are a big team and we’re
looking really good at the end of last season, has kinda tracked
with them being top too, 8 is still too many though.
Bristol get 8. Topped the league last year, had a good narrative
, played (notice past tense) attractive rugby and were a lot of
people’s 2nd team. As stated above 8 is too many.
Wasps getting 7 after a bad season and having a lot of their
star players injured is a very strange choice, doubt they will
get many in the 2nd half after putting out a C team against
Sarries.
Sharks getting 6 seems about right , not a hugely popular club
but preform well on the pitch and can stop teams dead when they
hit their straps and preformed well last season.
Bath get 5, Big club, big stars, mid table last season but when
the click they can be good to watch, would of been hard to guess
they would be bottom of the table when the tv schedule was made
so this makes sense.
Gloucester getting 5 is still to many from their 11th place
finish last season with them playing kids a lot of the time.
Popular club I know but still to many considering who is below
them.
Saints getting 4 making them by far the hardest done by, play
attractive rugby, popular club, came 5th last season. So not
really sure on why they this decision.
London Irish get 3, weren’t great on the park but did have some
Amazing high scoring games, not much more to say any team only
getting on the box 1/3 of other teams is unfair to say the
least.
Newcastle get 2, same as LI and had a run at the beginning of
the season that fell apart.
Numbers down this end are a joke with only warriors getting
shafted more so.
Warriors get 1..... as bad as any team is on the field this is
still a very harsh punishment.

Why would they do that? I'm disgusted and utterly gutted. What
are our Directors up to! I'm 137 % behind Kingston should go!

Not sure they can work that out very well with the bias already
implemented.
If it’s based off a poll I must of missed it.
Can’t be based off performance or saints would be higher.
If it’s based off viewing figures from previous seasons that
would make sense but I’m not sure how warriors dig themselves
out of the hole.
Their one game so far was Friday against Saints, so unless this
smashes the average viewer numbers what changes?
As always with the Prem and rugby in general it feels like it
was decided by a load of out of touch old blokes round a table.

Factors that will have played a part in the decision making:
- What slots will be free in the schedule (working around
Football games that they also cover.
Football will always be the first into the schedules as they're
worth more to the broadcasters in terms of viewing figures &
hence ad revenue.
- Clubs preferred days & times for kick-off
We all know that Enya games are typically a Friday night
fixture. They prefer their games then. Others like us like a 3pm
Saturday game. While some of ours are moed for TV reasons to a
Friday evening, there's going to be some horse-trading between
the clubs & BT as to which games are moved when.
- Location of the TV equipment both before & after the game.
The broadcasters & partners only have a fixed number of assets
(cameras, sound/vision trucks, crew, etc). They have to plan out
well in advance when to have things in place. Setting up for a
live broadcasts takes a few hours, as does "de-rigging"
afterwards. If BT know they have a Newcastle United game on
early Saturday (12:30pm k/o), they might want to ask Falcons if
they can have their game televised on the Friday night as it
means they get two games in the same region, cutting down on
long-distance moving of the gear.
- What good "stories" can be told about the game
Local derbies are easy to sell to an audience. You have a
built-in "story". Similarly, our games against Bristol & Exeter
have the story of the semi-final & final to lean on, so it makes
it more attractive to the schedulers. In the same way, as
Champions (particularly after the way we won it) makes for a
good line, hence why we're being shown so much.

Small point but Sale no longer prefer Fridays. We switched to
Saturdays a while ago.
This season, our three home games have been Saturday, Sunday,
Friday.
For some reason, Sale v Quins games (regardless of who is at
home) seem to be on a Friday night.

Fair enough! I guess because, as you say, our games tend to be a
Friday night, I hadn't picked up on the move!

I believe Sarries and Exeter can't have Friday night games due
to agreements with the local authorities so that's another
parameter.

Well you never know Premiership rugby may also be looking at PPV
for games no5 televised
