BT Sport coverage of Gallagher premiership
DIR By: The Quin of England

Can anyone explain why BT Sport Extra channels aren't
broadcasting anything except for BT Extra which is showing the
same game as BT Sport 3?
What's the point in that; surely the Premiership don't just want
the money, they actually want the broadcaster to show the games
all of us punters are paying for?
What am I missing?

The bit you are missing is the contract- The contract stipulates
that BT show 3 games a week based on the money they paid. BT
only showed every game for the previous season and a half
because if a disease that put the world in hibernation and
stopped crowds going to the stadiums.
Had that diseased not happened, this conversation would not have
started. It's not just you. A lot of people are now expecting
every game to be shown because they have forgotten how it was
before.
I refer you to this link which spells the contract out.

This is the rugby equivalent of people moaning about the
government withdrawing the extra £20 payment they put into
Universal Credit to provide extra support during Covid.
Both that and BT Sport showing all the Prem games were temporary
improvements to normal conditions during the removal of our
normal liberties, yet both BT and the government are now being
moaned at as though they're removing an entitlement that had
been the norm for decades.
The main difference is that you can watch all the Prem games for
free on their website 12 hours after the game.
Lastly worth pointing out is that if you have a Quins season
ticket and a BT subscription, then you're getting to see every
game so far confirmed live anyway.

Wasn’t that long ago we where lucky to see one game on sky
Think the amount the question is being asked shows that maybe
the audience has grown along with the appetite
Don’t think we had filled this many seats even after 2012 final,
yesterday there was hardly any empty seats, has to be good for
the game

To be fair, when I was tracking the attendances across leagues
(and also cross-code) we were consistently getting in the high
80% capacity even when including the Prem (Anglo-Welsh) Cup and
the Euro Challenge Cup (where you'd get a couple of hundred away
supporters at best). In Premiership games, we were generally
running at between 90% and 95% season on season. That's why the
club started thinking about the potential of a new stadium...

Personally I think BT are missing a trick here.
I only have BT Sport to watch rugby. I don’t watch any other
sports they cover.
Could they not create customisable packages where you pay the
same fee but are only able to access what you want to see?

No that is not in the agreement. People seem to think BT have
carte blanch to show every game and whoever they want. What they
are allowed to show is dependent on what Premiership Rugby has
stipulated in their agreement.

'people moaning'? You mean the half a million people that could
be pushed into poverty by the cut, according to the Joseph
Rowntree Foundation, including 200,000 children? The cost of
living has shot up since the extra payment started but not
everyone's wages have. You'd 'moan' too if you were going
hungry. This will include some of your fellow 'moaning' Quins
fans.

You cannot compare someone on the poverty line to a multi
million pound TV contract. That is ridiculous and heartless.

If you support Saracens nearly all the matches are broadcast by
BT so you had better switch allegiance!
