HARLEQUINS’ COACHING GROUP HAVE NAMED THE MATCH DAY 23 TO HOST
BATH RUGBY AT THE STOOP IN ROUND 6 OF THE GALLAGHER PREMIERSHIP
THIS WEEKEND
Will Collier, Tom Lawday, and Louis Lynagh return to the
starting XV this weekend as the men in the Famous Quarters look
to bounce back from a loss away to Sale Sharks last Friday, the
team’s first defeat of the season.
Last weekend’s starting openside Jack Kenningham is rested this
weekend after a strong start to the campaign for the combative
Harlequins Academy back row, while centre Luke Northmore takes
up a place amongst the Impact Players as Joe Marchant shifts
from the wing to his favoured position at outside centre this
Saturday.
All four players named by Eddie Jones in England’s Autumn Series
squad earlier this week start this Saturday, with number eight
Alex Dombrandt continuing to lead the side in place of injured
Club Captain Stephan Lewies.
Commenting ahead of the fixture, Senior Coach Tabai Matson said:
“We’re really excited to return to a sold-out Stoop this weekend
after enjoying two great wins at home in the league this season.
There’s always an extra lift when you play at home.
“Despite that first loss of the season up at Sale last Friday,
we were pleased with the levels of physicality we brought on the
day. We are happy to have picked up the losing bonus point
despite the loss.
“It’s always much harder when you face a wounded team and Bath
will be after last week’s performance. They have quality people
throughout that organisation and we’re preparing for their
backlash.
“Everyone at the Club is thrilled for Alex, Marcus, Joe and Joe
for their England inclusion this week. They have been key
figures in Club’s upturn in fortunes over the last year and will
huge assets to the national side.”

Decent team, but I'm not sure about the balance of the starting
back row. I think Wallace might have been a better shout to
start, but we'll see. Otherwise very happy with that.
I'm pretty sure I've seen pictures of CSW and Gray in training,
so hopefully they're not too far off. Not sure what is wrong
with Lewies - I hope it's not the same problem recurring

As mentioned RE backrow, I'm not 100% confident about the
mobility around the park being quick to the breakdown like
Kenningham is, but time will tell.

Disappointed to see Botta selected ahead of Baxter (not injured,
apparently) and share the breakdown concerns about Lawday at
openside. Also surprised that an apparently fit-again Allan is
not on the bench (we've gone for two centres, it seems). Hope
that doesn't come back to bite us if Marcus takes an early
knock.

Yes, not much scavenging in here but if that's an issue having
Wallace on the bench allows us to change that.
With Lewies, I'd like to think they're making sure he comes back
fully recovered to avoid the mistakes of previous years when
players come back too quickly and go down with the same problem
in minutes. Thinking Jack Clifford for one.

It's just good to see that the game time Lamb-C is getting is
paying off in improving performances - he's now a handy player
which is great for our depth. Lewies can take time recuperating
knowing we have decent cover.

Looks like Bath have selected a Quins-focused team — Simpson
there to counter Danny, Clark there to stop Andre, Cipriani NOT
there to stop anybody ... Underhill versus Lawday is a worry.

Just said that to my friend BQ.
Clearly been watching the Sale videos. Time to show we have
plans B and C

That’s a very average Quins side. The bench is awful
