Yes, Treecko, I'm not disputing in a) that we can (and should)
take care of the issue with Exeter and the War Bonnet, I've
already said I'm in favour of dumping them. However, I'm just
saying that in the greater scheme of things, people who really
believe this should be picking bigger battles to fight.
In b) though, I still think that if you say "films are part of
history, and hold value as a reflection of the views of those
times, and showing them now doesn't mean that we condone those
views." that sounds as if we could bring back the black and
white minstrels with the same claim, and we all agree that
won't/shouldn't happen. It's like that horrible comedy series
Love Thy Neighbour, the comedy being between the white racist
and the black man (as he was referred to in those days) next
door. You just couldn't show that now claiming different times,
different views in society.
Anyway, enough. I've said what I wanted to say and am going to
leave it here. I hope Exeter make the right choice in their big
meeting, but I have a feeling perhaps hearts will overrule
heads. In the fullness of time, I expect they'll do the right
thing.

I think there is a touch of hypocrisy here as the tomahawk which
was discussed on rugby tonight was in fact a Royal navel
invention that was traded with the native Americans when sailors
arrived in the new world

The metal head was traded and replaced the stone heads the
natives were already using. So what?

You have answered your own question there, does anyone who has a
Celtic tattoo have to have it removed because someone gets a bit
touchy about it? I think that without appropriation the whole
world would still be in the dark ages, as long as it’s not for
nefarious means like the nazis with the swastika it makes us
more cosmopolitan,

The reference by Martin Bayfield on Rugby Tonight was meant to
be military medals. Martin does quite a bit for military and of
course is an ex policeman. In the context of the discussion
rugby Premiership medals would be quite trite. I have no opinion
on this whole thing but cannot help but wonder how this all
started and how on earth Wasps got involved. Don’t have a lot of
time for Vaughan who tried to get one of our local amateur rugby
clubs heavily into debt and the members had to marshal to stop
him. He then moved on to Wasps!

Wasps were responding to a request from a "supporters group" to
ban the headdresses etc. from the Ricoh.
