No, No, NO! Friday evening games are bad enough, but pushing the
kick-off back would be even worse:
i) There's a lot of folks who travel from across the whole of
the SE to get to games. As it stands I think I'm lucky if I get
home at 11:30pm after a 7:45pm KO. Push it back further & I'd
seriously have to consider whether it's worth the hassle going &
I'm sure I'm not the only one who would be in that position.
ii) We already have a different demographic turning up to friday
night games, with more adults & more drinkers. This would give a
chance for some looking for a bit of a "boozy night at the
rugger" to pre-load in the pubs beforehand. While we don't have
a major problem with tanked up lads, there's been some incidents
at friday night games where stewards have had to get involved.
Do we really want to see that increase? I sincerely doubt it.
iii) Even TV schedules prefer to finish by 10pm for live games
(at least domestically) as they can guarantee more of an
audience (and hence better ad revenues which leads to a better
TV deal for the clubs). Ig games finish later, they typically
get lower viewing figures, and that impacts the potential for TV
deals in the future as well as the perception of the sport.
We're still a minority sport in the UK at the club level
(however much we wish it weren't so). If we're to attract top
level sponsors to the league and to individual teams, then we
need to keep as high a profile as we can, especially while FTA
TV coverage of the club game is at a limited level.

Abusing staff is unforgiveable and has no mitigation.
Rugby is usually very good at policing itself - bad behaviour is
usually sorted by the surrounding crowd. I'm surprised and
disappointed no-one stepped in on this occasion.
The poor consideration given to those who have no option but to
arrive immediately before kick-off on a Friday evening, or to
those who have no option but to leave early on a Friday evening
has nothing to do with it- start a different topic.
Abusing staff is unforgiveable and has no mitigation.
