There was a moment in the second half where we were camped on
the Bristol 5 metre line and he kept shouting and pointing to
indicate that if he got the ball it was him v Sinckler for the
try. Sadly, it didn't come to pass.

I thought Sinks looked a sad shadow of his former self. Very sad

Bit harsh - he was heavily involved in their attacking play,
made some big tackles, and it's been a week since he turned the
game around against Bath with a MOTM match-winning
performance...

Part of the pleasure of watching Quins is seeing the players
playing with smiles on their faces. This was brought home
yesterday watching Saracens v Falcons. The Saracens players
didn’t smile once, and looked angry and miserable most of the
time. Notable was George, who even when he scored looked as if
he wanted to knock six bells out of one of his team mates. There
is determination to win, but that looked all wrong.

From the moment we called for scrums early in the first half and
kept the ball in, it was clear we were trying to sap their
forwards’ strength. I wonder if this will just be a Bristol
thing or whether we will push this tactic against others. I
remember Conor O’Shea when he was DoR talking about how the
offloading game and fast pace really built and developed in
season, our players’ fitness. What was so impressive was the
number of turnovers in the second half, many from backs that
gave us the possession to show our skills ram home that fitness
advantage.

It was quite remarkable, wasn't it? Their discipline was
shocking in the first half, they seemed to treat every decision
against them as a personal affront. Farrell is very lucky the
ref didn't bin him for screaming at him after being ordered to
shut up. George's head looked like it would explode when he
scored. Presumably some of that is 'frustration' at being binned
by England but honestly George, maybe focus more on the lineout
throwing (despite BT's best efforts, you couldn't describe his
day at the office as a good one - he missed a couple and threw
multiple other dodgy ones that Sarries recovered, to go with the
bad throwing of previous matches) and less on the entitlement...
even if I do think he shouldn't have been dropped!

If the Falcons player that intercepted but spilt the ball had
gone through, it may have been a different result, but as the
second half went on, you could see Sarries were gradually
controlling the game, but they had taken their time to bed in at
home.
I did wonder whether the anger some of the players showed was
premeditated in that while playing away, they knew most fans
would dislike them, but at home, that sentiment doesn't exist;
you have to generate a bit more motivation; but the shock of
going down by 14 to upstarts Newcastle was too much for some and
it boiled over with George, Farrell and Vunipola Junior.
