       This Is Not Soccer

Just back from a frustrating day at The Stoop. Our usual issues
prevailed again, namely discipline and defence. It was as if
nothing has changed. But that's another story.
My massive frustration is how the fans (and specifically the
South Stand) are just descending into football-style boorish
behaviour. Every decision the referee gave against us was
harangued as if somehow we weren't guilty of anything (despite
those of us with Ref Link hearing the ref repeatedly telling us
not to do what we did). Clearly, they don't realise how many
penalties we give away every week.
The crescendo was the ridiculous pantomime performance around
the try that was overturned (incorrectly in my opinion) for Aled
Brew's support running. Not sure if other stands were involved,
but those around me seemingly wouldn't stop until the TMO was
called upon. It was an ugly situation.
Some might say this is the fan's working for their team. I say
it's a sad decline that is going to be difficult to reverse.
Add in booing, constant criticism of the referee (who I thought
was fine) and abuse of the away fans and it's time to cough up
more money to avoid the South Stand.

I didn't care much about the try, although you are not supposed
to obstruct players brew may as well have turned round and given
him a hug. I was too busy booing Jamie Roberts who I shall see
       next Tuesday.

Could not disagree more. That was passionate fans, voicing a
collective opinion in support of their team. Quins notoriously
gentlemanly. That’s great, but passion also required. We are not
football fans, but cheering, supporting and collectively
questioning a key part of a home support. I hope you did not sit
silently. Players deserve our involvement. As a season ticket
holder for a long time I was proud to hear the crowd as one.

I have noted that Cookie happiest when criticising. Much like on
       previous forum.

I thought the booing was poor and I'm unsure exactly what the
law is around that type of obstruction but there's no denying it
was about as much fun as we had all day.

I was part of the south stand making a hell of a racket and I
feel we were well within our rights.
Running in front of a player clearly blocking him (while
watching over the shoulder to make sure your definitely getting
in his way) is definitely obstruction.
We didn’t get much home advantage and the stands took a stand
(no pun intended) to try and change that. It worked and never
before have I seen a whole stadium have to resort to such action
       to get a TMO review.
I’m glad we did it and the fact he reviewed and agreed it was a
penalty that got us 2 points in the end vidicates our actions.

Fantastic effort from the crowd. The fans game the team a
massive lift and they responded by gaining 2 points from
nothing. Completely disagree with the opening post.

From the original posters post. Cookie. Are you really a rugby
bloke/bird or did you start that for a wind up to get a
reaction? We were in the South and it was real fans like us
that got the TMO review. What did you do? Nothing except deplore
the football behaviour. Thank god for real Quins fans in the
       south.

Cookie is old school rugby like many of us. One has to move with
the times but I also would agree that booing when you are losing
is a bit, well, football innit...

I'm a West Stander and there seemed to be a lot of booing from
all around. The Bath player wasn't running a support line he was
fending off a tackler so his mate could score and the
referee/touch judge should have spotted it before the TMO
intervened. I'm not in favour of habitual booing (and really
wish everybody would hush for kicks) but the blatant cheating
deserved the approbation it received to draw attention to it.
