       Covid Passports - Edinburgh

       Hi all,
Apologies for bringing up a controversial topic like Covid
Passports. Hopefully we don't end up with a heated debate
for/against. I just thought people might find this email/link
from Edinburgh rugby to be of interest...
       URL -
  HTML https://www.edinburghrugby.org/the-clubhouse/vaccine-certification-legislation
       Email
Subject Line - Important Information | FANS ADVISED TO PREPARE
       FOR VACCINE CERTIFICATION LEGISLATION
       Copy -
Edinburgh Rugby fans over the age of 18 should be prepared to
show proof they are fully vaccinated (or are otherwise exempt)
at forthcoming matches at the DAM Health Stadium.
New Scottish Government legislation on vaccine certification
means fans may be asked to prove they are fully vaccinated
before attending large events, including those where there is a
combination of seated and standing capacity of more than 4,000.
The Scottish Government has now confirmed to the club that the
standing element of the DAM Health Stadium means Edinburgh Rugby
home matches fall within the scope of the legislation.
The legislation will be introduced across the country tomorrow
(1 October), a week before the Edinburgh’s next home match in
the United Rugby Championship (URC) against South African side
       DHL Stormers (Saturday 9 October).
Enforcement action has been delayed until Monday 18 October,
allowing the club time to test, adapt and build confidence among
fans in the practical arrangements of the scheme.
As part of that process, Edinburgh Rugby fans should be prepared
to demonstrate their fully vaccinated status at the Stormers
match and future home matches until such time as the legislation
is in no longer in place.
Random spot checks of fans will take place before the ticket
scanning points at the stadium’s entrances, where fans may be
asked to show either written or digital evidence to prove they
       are fully vaccinated.
Visitors from all parts of the UK will be able to use their
existing vaccine certificates, your vaccine does not have to
       have been given in Scotland.
Individuals will be exempt if they:
       * Are under 18
       * Are participating in vaccine trials
       * Cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons
Fans can get a copy their vaccination status by clicking HERE
You can also get a copy of your vaccine status by phoning the
COVID-19 Status Helpline on 0808 196 8565. The helpline is open
every day from 10am to 6pm.
Details on the Scottish Government’s Coronavirus (COVID-19)
vaccine certification scheme can be found HERE
Edinburgh Rugby Managing Director, Douglas Struth, said: “Our
focus remains ensuring our fans feel safe and secure when
       attending the DAM Health Stadium.
“With our matches now falling within the scope of the new
legislation, we appreciate our supporters’ patience,
understanding and cooperation as we work through the
introduction of these new measures over the coming weeks.”

Yet again, La Sturgeon north of the border making up her own
(obviously, better) rules in order to show how much better
Scotland (under her rule and reign) is at self-governing.
"Whatever they do in London, we have to do something different."

I think that this shows the picture better than the above
(taken from the official dashboard at
  HTML https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/cases)
Cases by area (last 7 days)
       Rate per 100,000 population
       Wales
       Scotland
       Northern Ireland
       England
Based on this, I can understand why Scotland (and the other
       regions) take stronger precautions

And this is why Scotland should never let England have their
       independence! ;D

Pretty common over here on the other side of the channel. I
travelled from Belgium to Greece and back over the summer via
Germany, Austria and Italy. Needed to show the vaccination
certificate to cross borders, check in to hotels, go to bars and
restaurants (different rules on each country but vaccination
certificates and apps in EU member states are all
interoperable). Takes about 5 seconds to show the QR code and
same again if it is verified by the other person. As a result,
didn't need to take a single COVID test. I know France and the
Netherlands also have the requirement. All have much lower COVID
infection and death rates than the UK. Maybe indeed it's
Scotland in the mainstream and England the outlier...

Let's hope Quins don't give in to this nonsense.
I'm going to the whisky show tomorrow and at least they give the
option of a negative test result or positive antibody test.
Anyone supporting vaccine passports without these options cannot
reasonably claim to support them due to Covid concerns. If they
become an accepted part of life then you might as well get used
to no beers at a game in 5 years time.
If you want to show a pass fine, fill your boots, but not sure
why others should have to be equally servile
