It's absolutely terrific isn't it?!
Squidge is the best, as I am sure you all know. His precise
analysis is combined with an unbeatable passion for the game and
a great sense of humour!
I honestly don't feel we got the recognition we deserved until
now! I don't care about the recognition because I know how
amazing it was, and that's enough for me. But, you know, it's
nice when people appreciate you!!!

It was really interesting to see that the tactics haven’t
actually changed much between the Gustard and post-Gustard era,
but that the players are more committed to executing them and
Marcus is making better calls about when to try stuff and when
to just play the system.
It seems to me that the transformation isn’t down to any one
thing, but to several changes feeding off each other. Eastwood
and the quartet/quintet/sextet’s [1] impact on the culture, the
players not just buying into the playing style but realising
they have no excuses not to play for each other, the”white bib”
protocol meaning they are fresher and better able to give it all
on the pitch, which means things come off more often, which
means Marcus can be more patient looking for opportunities,
which means the results start coming, which means everyone buys
in to the culture even more…
[1] Millard, Flannery, Evans, Jones, Turner-Hall and Mulchrone
have all been described as part of the quartet at various times…

I'd argue that the quartet is Evans, Flannery, Jones &
Mulchrone. Those are the four Senior coaches. Millard provided
the over-arching upper level management & view, and Turner-Hall
as the Academy was co-opted to help out while the coaching team
were a man down.
