Sir Ian McGeechan has said that Warren Gatland would be top of
his list, if England had to pick a successor to Eddie Jones
‘tomorrow’.

Surely we can aspire to someone better than this. For me Gatland
is a backward step on even Eddie. Isn’t Rob Baxter England
manager-elect? Unless he doesn’t want it of course.

Reading the actual article, it's the usual RP clickbait. The
premise is that if Geech were in charge & appointing a new coach
TODAY (EJ having fallen uner a bus or some such scenario), he'd
pick an experienced head like Gatland given we're less than 2
years out from the next RWC to get the most out of the
experienced players given that Gatland knows the players already
& knows who can do what. Further down the article there's a bit
of discussion about who will ACTUALLY succeed Jones that
discusses coaches like Baxter, McCall, et al, but that doesn't
make a juicy clickbait article like saying "Geech favours
Gatland to coach England".

Baxter doesn't deserve to be England coach.
(He is far too decent a person).
