New red card rules?

So there was a kiwi red card this am against Australia in the
rugby championship. Completely justified and a rather daft thing
to have done imo. Only for the player to sit in the bin for 20
mins then come back on.
No I don't like games being ruined by cards but does this not
lose the element of discipline involved if a red card is simply
just a 20 min sin bin?
Also is this purely a pilot or is it coming into effect
internationally and domestically?

Sarries collected first red card of the season Van Zyl scrum
half for high tackle on Ulster player according to TRP. Must
have been a very ‘friendly’ match - welcome back Sarries! Maybe
they need a dictionary to explain word ‘friendly’.

With respect to the OP, this is from the Guardian:-
“ That said, in this year’s TRC a red card means New Zealand can
replace Barrett after 20 minutes.”

So it would seem that a red card means a player is sent off but
a replacement can be put back on pitch after 20 mins, in the TRC
- The Rugby Championship.
Probably doesn’t apply in NH, but I don’t know for sure…

I believe the "twenty minute red card" is one of the new
experimental laws announced recently but unlike the others this
will only be used in the Rugby Championship.

Let’s hope it’s a new dictionary. The one they used previously
gave an odd interpretation of the words “salary” and “cap”.

It wasn’t a high tackle. Van Zyl was chasing a high ball, took
his eye off it and took the Ulster player out in the air.
Definitely reckless, but a misjudgement rather than malicious.

I think it's time we stopped sneering.
Our dictionary had trouble with the words "blood", "gate" and
"lying".

There’s a massive difference between one unsuccessful attempt at
cheating (which the Dallaglio report - despite its “nothing to
see here” conclusion - found was actually pretty widespread in
the game at the time) and a systematic, multi-year breaking of
the rules that resulted in a dozen trophies.

Yep, that's right. The trial red card law is not in the Global
Law Trials which are now in effect in England. More detail on
the trials here, including some video examples:

Even if I agree in part with what you say, don't you think it's
time we dropped it?
